Breaking: Lalit Modi Reveals He Is Dating Sushmita Sen

Lalit Modi, the former IPL chairman, is in the news after he confirmed dating former Miss Universe Sushmita Sen in an Instagram post. The announcement by the couple came as a pleasant surprise to many on social media as the netizens showered love on the newest celebrity couple. Meanwhile, many want to know about Modi's dating life and whether or not he was married in the past.  

Lalit Modi’s Dating Life 

Lalit Modi has always been secretive about his personal life. There was no news of him dating Sushmita Sen until he made it official via social media. Things between him and Sushmita seem serious as Modi affirmed that they might tie the knot in the future. Modi was earlier married to Minal Modi, who passed away battling cancer aged 64 in 2018.  Before Modi, Minal's first marriage was with a Saudi Arabia-based man named Jack Sagrani, who used to travel from Nigeria to London and later worked in Saudi Arabia for Inlaks, a company owned by Indoo and Lakshmi Shivdasani.  While Minal was pregnant, Sagrani was caught in a scam and jailed in Saudi Arabia for several months. Also, he could not visit his wife even when she delivered their daughter Karima in London. She gave birth to her daughter in London and later moved to Delhi.  In Delhi, Minal reportedly befriended Modi's mother, Bina. She met Lalit Modi often. However, when the couple got married in 1991, many talks were centred around their age gap. Minal was ten years older than Modi.  Minal has two children with Modi. The couple had a daughter named Aliya in 1993 and a son named Ruchir in 1994. It was sometime around the 2000s that Minal was diagnosed with cancer. Minal Modi death occurred in 2018 at the age of 64 after battling cancer.

Many say their relationship was 'meant to be', and it was just a matter of time. In 2013, Lalit Modi shared a tweet in which he wrote: “Okay I commit @thesushmitasen: @LalitKModi you are too kind. However, promises are meant to be broken; commitments are honoured. Cheers love. Here is to 47,” Sushmita replied: “Gotcha 47,” to which Lalit replied: “Reply my SMS,” Netizens were surprised after Modi shared his romantic pictures with Sushmita confirming their relationship. One of the internet users said: “Is this a joke? I don't believe this (sic).” Another said: “Ye kab hua (sic).” A netizen wrote: “It's a pleasant surprise (sic).” Calling Sushmita his 'better half', Lalit Modi sent their fans into a frenzy, with several discussing if the two were already married. However, he cleared the air with another tweet, saying: “Just for clarity. Not married - just dating each other. That too it will happen one day. Sushmita Sen was crowned as Miss Universe in 1994 and made her Bollywood debut with the 1996 film Dastak. The 46-year-old actress has two daughters -- Alisah and Renee. She broke up with model Rohman Shawl in December last year.
