Maidaan – Fitting Homage to the Indian Football Legend
Amit Ravindrenath Sharma directed Maidaan, a sport biographical film. Zee Studios, Boney Kapoor, Arunava Joy Sengupta, and Akash Chawla are producing the film. Ajay Devgn and Priyamani are in the lead roles in this film. The plot revolves around the golden era of Indian football, which lasted from 1952 to 1962. The film will be released on October 15th, 2021.
Since the film is still under production, the Maidaan movie budget has not been made public. The film was supposed to come out on December 11, 2020, but was pushed back due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The film is based on the life and contributions of legendary Indian coach cum manager Syed Abdul Rahim. He was the kingpin of the meteoric rise of Indian football in the decade spanning 1950 to 1960.
Rahim Saheb is credited with shaping modern Indian football. He was a teacher by profession, but he became the pioneer of Indian football due to his unmatched passion for the game. As a coach, he is remembered as the symbol of India’s “golden age” of football. In the Melbourne Olympics (1956), he led the Indian team to the semi-finals, making India the first Asian country to do so. Then he coached India to clinch her first-ever football gold medal in the Jakarta Asian Games (1962).
Maidan movie star cast is a blend of newcomers and veterans. Ajay Devgan plays the lead role of Syed Abdul Rahim. Other notable actors are Priyamani, Gajraj Rao, and Rudranil Ghosh.
It is most likely one of Ajay Devgn’s most highly rated films, announced in 2019. The film’s production is already getting delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It has now faced a further setback because of cyclone Tauktae. The cine lovers are truly dejected due to these unprecedented hassles.
Ajay Devgan is very optimistic about his role as protagonist in this movie. He thinks that Maidaan should be a cornerstone in his entire movie career.
