Remember the hit TV serial Chandrakanta? Here’s what the cast is doing now


Do you remember Chandrakanta, the Hit Indian fantasy Tv serial based on Devaki Nandan’s 1888 Novel, Chandrakanta? The serial used to air on Doordarshan in 1994, but DD pulled it off due to some controversies. The consecutive seasons of the show aired on Sony TV and Star Plus, respectively.  The show was top-rated because of its storyline and stellar cast; here’s what the cast is doing now:

1. Shahbaz Khan as Kunwar Virendra Vikram Singh

Shahbaz khan The actor played the lead role in the TV serial, and became quite famous for his role. After that, the actor also starred in many films such as Raju Chacha, The Hero: Love story of a spy, Kismat, Big Brother and Agent Vinod, etc. Recently, the actor was also accused of molesting a girl. Now, Shahbaz is all set to make a debut on OTT platforms with a cricket-based series, “Game of sexes.”  

2. Shikha Swaroop as Princess Chandrakanta

Shikha Swaroop Former Miss India International winner, Shikha Swaroop who played the role of princess Chandrakanta, was considered one of the most desirable women in the early 90s. she appeared in movies like Naag Mani, Kayda Kanoon, and Cheetah, etc. The female actor also played the role of Kaikeyi in the Zee TV show Ramayan. But now, Shikha is totally away from the entertainment industry and is not active on social media either.  

3. Mukesh Khanna as Jaanbaaz and Meghavat

Mukesh Khanna Veteran actor Mukesh Khanna did many iconic roles, such as Bhisma Pitamah in BR Chopra’s Mahabharat and Sahktimaan. The actor has appeared in movies such as Hera Pheri, Barsaat, and International Khiladi. Mukesh Khanna was recently in the news as he is planning to make Shaktimaan 2 very soon.  

4. Pankaj Dheer as Shiv Dutt (King of Chunargarh)

Pankaj Dheer Father of actor Nikitin Dheer, Pankaj Dheer essayed Shiv Dutt's role in Chandrakanta; the actor got immensely popular due to his role as Karna in BR Chopra’s Mahabharat. So much so that his statues were worshipped. He appeared in movies like Gippi, Tarzan: The wonder car, and Soldier. In 2010, the actor opened Abbhinnay acting academy.   

5. Irrfan Khan as Badrinath/Somnath

Irrfan Khan One of the casts who had the most successful career recently passed away due to colon infection, aged 53. The actor appeared in movies such as Slumdog Millionaire, Life of Pi, Haider, Blackmail, The Lunchbox and Angrezi Medium, etc.   

6. Akhilendra Mishra as Kroor Singh (Yakoo)

Akhilendra Mishra Known for essaying villain roles, Akhilendra Mishra’s character was considered the most iconic one in Chandrakanta. The actor did many films such as Lagaan, Gangaajal, Shootout at Lokhandwala, Ready and Kaabil, etc.   

7. Rajendra Gupta as Pandit Jagannath/Shani

Rajendra Gupta Television and Theatre actor Rajendra Gupta also appeared in many films such as Mission Kashmir, Lagaan, Aakrosh, Tanu Weds Manu, and Paan Singh Tomar, etc. His upcoming movies are Sooryavanshi and Ravan Leela.   

8. Durga Jasraj as Rani Kalawati

Daughter of classical vocalist Pandit Jasraj, Durga Jasraj essayed the role of Rani Kalwati in the Tv serial. Durga Jasdraj became a household name when she hosts Zee Tv’s show, Antakshari with Annu Kapoor. Later, she left the show and started her company, Art And Artistes. In 2006, the singer co-founded the Indian Music Academy (IMA) with her father.  

9. Krutika Desai Khan as Sabhya/Ramya, Amba (Vish Kanya) and Jwala, the dacoit

Kruttika Desai The television and theatre actor, Kruttika went on to do many TV serials such as Kumkum - Ek Pyara Sa Bandhan, Tumhari Disha, Uttaran, Mere Angne Mein, and Laal Ishq, etc. Recently, she essayed the role of Justice Indrani in the 2019 film Section 375.   

10. Varsha Ungaonkar as Roopmati naagrani

Varsha-Ungaonkar The film actress from Goa, Varsha Ungaonkar, has worked in many Bollywood and Marathi Films. The actor has made a place for her in the Marathi industry. Currently, she is seen playing the role of Maisaheb in the Marathi TV serial Sukh Mhanje Nakki Kay Asta.
