The Indian badminton team created history on Saturday by beating other teams in the finals of the 2022 Thomas Cup. This is India's first win at the reputed tournament, and the team that won is somehow connected to Bollywood. The winning team's doubles coach is former Danish badminton player Mathias Boe, also female actor Taapsee Pannu's boyfriend. After the win, Taapsee took to social media to congratulate the team, and she also posted a special message for Mathias.

Taapsee was following the journey of the Indian team throughout the tournament, and she also regularly posted stories about it on her social media account. On Saturday, after India won the first two matches in the best-of-five round,she took to Instagram to celebrate the win. Then, after India won the third game to finally lift the trophy, she first shared a small video of the winning moment with the caption: “The boys did it. First-ever Thomas Cup for India.”  She tagged the entire team in the post.  She shared a picture of the team where one of the players is hugging Mathias and wrote: “Mr Coach, you made us proud,” tagging Mathias. Taapsee Pannu and Mathias Boe met when she watched one of his games several years ago. The female actor has spoken about how they connected over Twitter, and developed a friendship, which blossomed into romance soon. In an interview, Taapsee said: “I didn't want to date someone from the industry for this very reason. I want to keep my personal and professional lives separate. It is held every two years, and it sees national teams from around the world participate in singles and doubles games. This was the first time India qualified for the semi-finals, reached the finals, and eventually won the Thomas cup.
