The Mumbai Chapter Of Modern Love To Release This May

The Mumbai chapter of Modern Love will air on May 13 2022 on Amazon Prime Video. The anthology will feature the stories directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, Hansal Mehta, Shonali Bose, Dhruv Sehgal, Alankrita Shrivastava and Nupur Asthana. The featurettes, six in total, would focus on ‘finding and exploring love in all its shades and emotions.’

The films that are a part of Modern Love Mumbai are:

Raat Rani 

Directed by Sharon Bose and starring Fatima Sana Shaikh, Bhupendra Jadawat and Dilip Prabhavalkar. 


Directed by Hansal Mehta and featuring Tanuja, Pratik Gandhi and Ranveer Brar.

Mumbai Dragon

Directed by Vishal Bhardwaj and stars Yeo Yann Yann, Meiyang Chang, Wamiqa Gabbi and Naseeruddin Shah.

My Beautiful Wrinkles 

Directed by Alankrita Shrivastava and starring Sarika, Danesh Razvi, Ahsaas Channa and Tanvi Azmi. 

I Love Thane 

Directed by Dhruv Sehgal and featuring Masaba Gupta, Ritwik Bhowmik, Prateik Babbar, Aadar Malik and Dolly Singh.

Cutting Chai 

Directed by Nupur Asthana and starring Chitrangda Singh and Arshad Warsi. 

Modern Love Mumbai is produced by British Nandy Communications. Inspired by a column in the New York Times, the first two seasons of the US-based series were released in 2019 and 2021. A Japanese chapter, entitled Modern Love Tokyo, is also scheduled for this year.

Aparna Purohit, Head of India Originals, Amazon Prime Video, said, “We are excited to bring forth Modern Love Mumbai, the first of our three local versions of Modern Love, our well-acclaimed international franchise. Modern Love Mumbai features a bouquet of six heart-warming, lyrical stories that explore love in its many forms and together all the  stories represent  a unique love affair with the poly-cultural city of Mumbai”.

The hottest international series, Modern Love, has acquired the familiarity of Indian and Modern Love: Mumbai (Hindi), Love Modern: Chennai (Tamil) and Modern Love: Hyderabad (Telugu). The Indian version of Modern Love is based on the famous New York Times column and the international series. 

Amazon Prime Video shared the poster of Modern Love: Mumbai on social media, on April 25. The poster shows a glimpse of the different characters. The post was captioned: “If the best news we got today was an image #ModernLoveOnPrime (sic).” 

Dhruv Sehgal also shared the poster and wrote: “Making way into your #ModernLoveOnPrime (sic).”

The Indian acquaintance of Modern Love incorporates various stories of universal romantic feelings in its many forms. It is presented in three Indian languages – Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. Named Modern Love: Mumbai, Modern Love: Chennai and Modern Love: Hyderabad, the show includes an exchange of stories from an anonymous column. Each episode is designed to take the audience on an exciting journey, to find love with stories of many human emotions. From love and romance to, family love, love for friends, and love arising from kindness among others.

The Mumbai chapter of the international franchise, inspired by the popular New York Times column, will bring home love this season with heartwarming and inspiring stories centered at the heart of the city of Mumbai.
