Early Life

Vidya Balan was born and brought up in Mumbai. So far as Vidya Balan’s age is concerned, she is now 42 years old (January 1979). Her father is a retired bureaucrat, and her mother, a homemaker. She is basically of Malayalam origin though the family speaks Tamil too. She completed her graduation from Mumbai University and left her studies in the middle of pursuing her master's degree.

Acting Skills and Awards

Vidya has tasted success mainly in the Bollywood industry though she acted in several regional films, including Malayalam, Tamil, and Bengali. She is predominantly known for accepting female-led roles raising social issues. Vidya is the recipient of one National award and six Filmfare awards. Surprisingly, Vidya Balan’s debut film (2003) was a Bengali movie, Bhalo Theko, which propelled her to the limelight. After that, she focused on Bollywood films, and the rest is history! Vidya is married to Siddharth Roy Kapoor, a famous film producer. Presently, she is involved in an array of philanthropic causes like World Wildlife Fund’s Earth Hour campaign, Child In Need Institute (CINI), etc. She is a strict vegetarian, which has been duly endorsed by PETA.
