Perfect Food Items For Women Experiencing Heavy Menstrual Flow!


Heavy period flow is a problem a lot of women faces in their lives. The period in itself is an unpleasant time for most of the women who suffer with cramps, aches, mood swings, bloating and endless side effects.  In medical terms, this problem is much more complicated than it seems to be and also affects women health since the uterine wall gets thicker and, in the end, sheds, causing heavy blood flow. So, if the wall is thicker, it will always lead to heavy flow.  Here's a list of food items or drinks that would provide relief to the problem by preventing thicker uterine walls and thus no heavy period flow. 

Green Tea

Green tea is made up of a plant compound that has anti-oxidative properties which help against cellular damage. It also has other properties which prevent forming of walls outside the uterus. Drinking green tea with honey acts as a good remedy to avoid cramps during periods. 

Probiotics 

Probiotics are living bacteria that are present in the body naturally and influence your gastrointestinal system. However, probiotics are beneficial when they are picked out externally. During periods vagina becomes sensitive and is likely to catch several infections, These infections can be avoided with the consumption of probiotics. It helps in keeping the vaginal microbiome in balance. Some good sources of probiotics are yoghurt, Korean Kimchi and even Kombucha.  

Magnesium 

Magnesium is a natural relaxing agent and is the main feature in reducing the number of prostaglandins released. The level of progesterone and estrogen increase because of the magnesium. So if you crave some snacks during your periods, make sure they contain magnesium in them. It is also helpful in soothing the muscles of the uterus. Rich sources of magnesium are pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, green leafy vegetables and organic dark chocolate.  

Turmeric

Turmeric has anti-inflammatory property which helps in repairing the endometriosis lesions, which plays a vital role in heavy blood flow. It also prevents the estrogen's widening effect from spreading to the muscles, thus helping with cramps as well and blocking certain inflammatory proteins. Turmeric can be consumed with lukewarm milk or even added in particular amounts to your salads, smoothies, juices and even rice. Other than this, turmeric has antibacterial properties too, which prevents several other problems, and daily consumption of it can lead to a better lifestyle.

Red Meat

Red Meat is high in iron and it is advised that it should not be consumed as they raise prostaglandins in the body, so it will do less benefit and more harm.

High-Fat Dairy Products 

High-fat dairy products contain an acid which aids the synthesis of prostaglandins, thereby increasing blood flow and cramps. 

Sugar 

Sugar is inflammatory by nature which worsens the cramps, and it upsets the already swaying sugar levels of the body. 

Caffeine 

Caffeine stores estrogen, which affects the blood flow and thus makes matters worse by increasing the cramps.
