Budget 2022: Cabinet Approves Budget; Presentation Begins

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is all set to present her fourth budget today after 2019, 2020 and 2021. This year also, the finance minister will ditch the bahi-khata and carry a tablet to present a paperless budget. The tablet is kept inside a red cover with the national emblem embossed in it. The union cabinet has already approved the union budget, and Nirmala Sitharaman is all set to present the union budget at the Parliament from around 11 am. While the first part of the budget session will be held from 31st February to 11th February, and the second session will take place from 14th March to 8th April 2022. 

Covid-Bulletin: India Logs 1,67,059 New Covid-19 Cases; Recovery Rate At 94.60%

According to the latest data released by the union health ministry, India has recorded 1,67,059 new covid-19 cases. The active caseload of the country has reached 17,43,059. Meanwhile, daily recoveries continue to outnumber active covid-19 cases, with recording 2,54,076 recoveries in the previous 24 hours. The total recoveries have reached 3,92,30,198. The daily and weekly positivity rates currently stand at 11.69% and 15.25%, respectively. As per the Indian Council of Medical Research, the country has conducted 73.06 crore covid-19 tests so far. On the vaccination front, India has administered 166.68 crore covid-19 vaccine doses so far under the nationwide vaccination drive. 

Economic Survey 2022: Economic Survey Forecast An 8-8.5% GDP Growth

On Monday, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the Economic Survey 2022 in Parliament to begin the Budget 2022 session. The Economic Survey 2022 projected an 8-8.5% GDP growth and marked that India will retain the tag of the world’s fastest-growing major economy. As per a PTI report, India will maintain the world-beating economy tag this fiscal year and vaccine coverage, easing of regulations, and supply-side reforms will support it in the next. The Survey said that the economy is placed well to take challenges in 2022-23. The Economic Survey also said that Delhi has replaced Bengaluru as a startup capital as over 5,000 startups were added between April 2019 and December 2021. 

Bigg Boss Fame Hindustani Bhau Arrested Over Students’ Protest

YouTuber and Bigg Boss fame Vikas Fhatak aka Hindustani Bhau was arrested by the Mumbai police on Monday. The YouTuber was arrested in connection with a student’s protest in Dharavi, Mumbai for the demand of online exams for 10th and 12th class. Reportedly, the students started the protest after watching a video of Hindustani Bhau who raised concerns over offline exams for 10th and 12th class in view of the pandemic. Students protested near the residence of Maharashtra Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad. The Mumbai police have registered a case against Hindustani Bhau under multiple sections of IPC, Maharashtra Police Act, Disaster Management Act and Maharashtra Prevention of Defacement of Property Act.

Bigg Boss 15: Karan Kundrra Celebrates Girlfriend Tejasswi Prakash’s Big Win

Recently, TV personality Tejasswi Prakash lifted the trophy of Bigg Boss 15, with Pratik Sehajpal becoming the first runner up of the show. Karan Kundrra emerged as the second runner up of the show and was seen celebrating girlfriend Tejasswi Prakash’s big win. In the video, Karan can be seen welcoming Tejasswi to a fully decorated house and ‘Bigg Boss 15 Winner’ written on a wall. Though Karan looked happy celebrating Tejasswi’s win, he took to Twitter to express his displeasure over the results. Karan wrote: “A big big biggggg thank you to each and everyone of you for all the love and support and kindness that you showered on me throughout my journey.. sorry for the late tweet.. Lost faith in a lot of things today but hopefully not in myself.. you’ve stood by me like a rock (sic),” he wrote, adding, “I might take time to recover from what happened but I assure you I will.. and I promise you I will not disappoint you.. never again.. thank you my family!!! (sic).”
