Congress Party Is Merely A Puppet Of RaGA, Says Ghulam Nabi Azad

In a big blow to the Congress party ahead of the CWC's general elections, the party's veteran leader Ghulam Nabi Azad resigned from the primary membership of the Congress party. On Friday, August 26, 2022, Mr Azad wrote a five-page resignation letter to the party's interim president Sonia Gandhi. In his letter, Mr Azad said the party's situation has reached a 'no-return' point. Mr Azad said, "The entire organizational election process is a farce and a sham. At no place anywhere in the country have elections been held at any level of the organization. Handpicked lieutenants of the AICC have been coerced to sign on lists prepared by the coterie that runs the AICC sitting in 24 Akbar Road". "Following the entry of Rahul Gandhi into politics, especially after his appointment as the vice-president of the party in 2013, the entire consultative mechanism which existed earlier was demolished", mentioned Azad in his letter.

Rahul Gandhi Is The Cause Why Congress Party Experienced Consecutive Setbacks In Elections

Referring to the failure of the Congress party in the countrywide elections, Ghulam Nabi Azad said, "Under your stewardship since 2014 and subsequently that of Rahul Gandhi, the INC has lost two general elections in a humiliating manner. It has lost 39 out of the 49 assembly elections held between 2014-2022. Among these, the party only won four state elections and was able to get into a coalition situation in six instances. Unfortunately, today, the INC is ruling in only two states and is a very marginal coalition partner in two other states". He also pointed to the failure of Sonia Gandhi to manage the party affairs, citing, "Since the 2019 elections, the situation in the party has only worsened. After Rahul Gandhi stepped down in a huff and not before insulting all the senior party functionaries who have given their lives to the party in a meeting of the extended Working Committee, you (Sonia Gandhi) took over as interim president. A position that you hold even today for the past three years. Worse still, the 'remote control model' that demolished the institutional integrity of the UPA government now got applied to the Indian National Congress. Early Acts Of Ghulam Nabi Azad

Last week, Ghulam Nabi Azad resigned from Jammu and Kashmir Congress party election campaign chief. At that time, Sonia Gandhi appointed him as the state election head. However, he referred to his poor health conditions to step down from his post.

Remarks To Congress Party's "Bharat Jodo Yatra"

Pointing to the Congress party's proposed Bharat Jodo Yatra, Mr Azad asked the Congress president to first launch a Congress Jodo Yatra. He said the organizational structure of the party is very weak, and no one can bring the party to its early position as it was before the takeover by Rahul Gandhi.  As of now, the Congress party has been going through a tough time as veteran leaders are quitting their respective posts, and the organization is in limbo due to the failed leadership of the party. According to some political experts, the party's fate depends on the outcomes of the upcoming CWC election results.
