Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain Arrested By ED In Money Laundering Case

Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain Arrested By ED In Money Laundering Case

On Monday, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain in a money-laundering case. The arrest is based on a case filed on Mr Jain in 2017 under the Prevention of Corruption Act in which he was accused of having laundered money through 4 of his companies. In an official statement, the ED said: "Investigation by the ED revealed that during the period 2015-16 when Sh. Satyendar Kumar Jain was a public servant; the above-mentioned companies beneficially owned and controlled by him received accommodation entries to the tune of Rs 4.81 crore from shell companies against cash transferred to Kolkata-based entry operators through the Hawala route. These amounts were utilised for direct purchase of land or for the repayment of loan taken for the purchase of agricultural land in and around Delhi," The Central Bureau of Investigation had also registered a case against Satyendar Jain, his wife and four others on charges of corruption. The CBI officials had said that AAP Leader Satyendar Jain could not explain the source of funds received by four companies. In its statement, the CBI said that Rs 4.63 crore was allegedly received through Prayas Info Solutions, Akinchan Developers, Managalyatan Projects and Indo-Metal Impex Pvt Ltd in 2015-2016. However, the Aam Aadmi Party has refuted CBI's allegations and said that the reports of Satyendar Jain being involved in land deals or shell companies are baseless.  https://youtu.be/5jZTHaJlIbY

Punjabi Singer Sidhu Moosewala's Body Taken Home Post Autopsy

On Tuesday, the body of singer-turned-politician Sidhu Moosewala's body was taken home from the Mansa Civil Hospital. The Punjabi singer was shot dead on Sunday, a day after the AAP government in Punjab withdrew the security cover of 420 people. On Monday, the Punjab police detained at least six people from the Peliyon Police Chowki in Uttarakhand in connection to the Sidhu Moosewala murder. Meanwhile, an unverified Facebook post made by Goldy Brar claimed that he, along with gangster Lawrence Bishnoi are responsible for killing Sidhu Moosewala as the singer was allegedly involved in the killing of Youth Akali Dal leader Vicky Middukhera. However, Lawrence Bishnoi filed a plea in the Court seeking directions to the jail authorities not to give his custody to the Punjab police. The petition alleged that Bishnoi feared a fake encounter by the Punjab police due to political rivalry. The Delhi Court has denied the plea and said that there are no grounds for the gangster to file an application before the Court. Meanwhile, a special cell of Delhi police has started questioning Lawrence Bishnoi at the Tihar Jail in connection to the Sidhu Moosewala's murder. The Punjab Police has hinted toward an inter-gang rivalry in their preliminary investigation. The Punjab High Court has also issued a notice to the Punjab government seeking details on the number of people whose security cover was withdrawn and the reason for taking such a decision. "Court has issued notice to Punjab Government asking for a detailed report on the number of people whose security was taken away and a reason for curtailing the security. Reply has to be filed by the Punjab Government on June 2," informed the Additional Solicitor General of India.  https://youtu.be/4et_GTU5Gcs
