The central government announced on 5th April that a review meeting would be held between the chief ministers of all states and prime minister Narendra Modi later this week to discuss the nationwide covid-19 outbreak.
Delhi’s chief minister Arvind Kejriwal had earlier said that lockdown cannot be a solution to fight against the virus. This is not the first time that a night curfew has been imposed in the capital. Last time, it was imposed on 31st December and 1st January to tackle new year gatherings in Delhi.
Recently, the Maharashtra government imposed weekend lockdown and night curfew in the state till 30th April. The Uddhav Thackeray government has imposed strict restrictions on restaurants, hotels, bars, and private offices. Both Delhi and Maharashtra have been the worst coronavirus hit states in the country.
