As Covid-19 Cases Continue To Drop, States Including Delhi, UP Prepare For Unlock 2.0

States including Delhi, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh have eased restrictions from today. As the active covid-19 cases dipped in these states, the state government allowed some services to resume keeping in view the economy. In Delhi, markets and malls will be opened on an odd-even basis, Delhi Metro services will resume on 50% capacity. Government and private offices can be open with 50% staff. Maharashtra has allowed a complete opening of cities and districts with a positivity rate of less than 5% and has less than 25% of oxygen bed occupancy. Uttar Pradesh has lifted lockdown in all districts except Saharanpur, Gorakhpur and Meerut. However, night curfew and weekend curfew will continue to remain in place. States like Rajasthan, Telengana, Andhra Pradesh, Nagaland, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and Karnataka have extended the lockdown primarily by another week.  https://youtu.be/GqzjoECzfN8

Fugitive Jeweller Mehul Choksi Reportedly Disclosed Names Of The Abductors To Antigua Police

Reportedly, Mehul Choksi on Sunday disclosed the names of the abductors who brought him to Antigua. The Prime Minister of Antigua, Gaston Brown, has said that Choksi's lawyers have provided the names to the police commissioner and the government is taking the allegations seriously. Fugitive diamantaire Mehul Choksi is wanted in India in connection to the PNB scam. The Dominican court had earlier given relief to Choksi from his immediate extradition to India. 

Covid Bulletin: India Reports A Sharp Decline After Two Months; Active Cases remain Below The 2 Lakh Mark

According to the data released by the union health ministry, India recorded 1,00,636 active covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. India reported less than 2 lakh cases for the eleventh consecutive days. Meanwhile, daily recoveries continue to surpass active covid-19 infections. The recovery tally of India stands at 2,71,59,180. A Pan-India Study Reveals That both Covishield And Covaxin Produce High Immune Response 

A real-world study of 515 vaccinated healthcare workers - 90 with Covaxin and 425 with Covishield-found that both vaccines generate an immune response in 95% of recipients after 21-36 days of taking the second dose. Seropositivity was found in 98% of those who took Covishield as opposed to 80% of those who took Covaxin, a finding that researchers called surprising. Post vaccine infection was seen in 5% of the study group, but none of them showed severe covid-19 symptoms. Dr Awadhesh Kumar Singh, Endocrinologist and a lead author, said: "In individuals who have had a covid infection, both vaccines are equally good and could produce high antibodies even after a single shot, but for those who haven't got covid, Covishield could provide an edge." 

AIIMS Delhi: Covaxin Trials For Children To Begin From Today

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences will begin screening children for clinical trials of the Bharat Biotech's Covaxin from Monday. AIIMS Patna started the trials on children aged between 12-18 years old. A subject expert committee (SEC) recommendation was followed by the approval of the Drugs Controller General of India to begin the trials for the children at AIIMS.  https://youtu.be/kje322e9aVg

IMD Predicts Heavy Rainfall In States Including Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh Till 10th June

The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted very likely heavy rainfall in the northeastern part of India, including states like Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura. The rainfall activity has also been predicted in parts of states including Telangana, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. Ollie Robinson Suspended From International Cricket Amid A Pending Investigation Says ECB

The England and Wales Cricket Board, on Sunday, announced that Ollie Robinson would not be playing international cricket due to a pending investigation into racist and sexist Twitter messages. While releasing a statement, ECB said: "England and Sussex bowler Ollie Robinson has been suspended from all international cricket pending the outcome of a disciplinary investigation following historic tweets he posted in 2012 and 2013. He will not be available for selection for the LV= Insurance second Test against New Zealand starting at Edgbaston on Thursday, 10 June.
