Booster Doses To Be Administered From Today

After a threat of a potential third wave of the covid-19 pandemic, India will start administering the precautionary dose or booster dose to healthcare workers, frontline workers, and people aged 60 and above and with comorbidities. The booster doses are being administered to contain the coronavirus spread caused by the new variant Omicron. Health Ministry officials said in a tweet on Monday that reminder SMSs have been sent to more than one crore healthcare and frontline workers for their precautionary doses. Reminder SMSs have also been sent to senior citizens. The frontline workers also include personnel deployed in election duty in the poll-bound state, including Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Goa and Manipur. https://youtu.be/B0lbNQUAiro

Covid-Bulletin: India Registers 1,79,723 New Covid-19 Cases; Total Omicron Cases At 4,033 

According to the union health ministry, the country has registered 1,79,723 new covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. The active caseload of the country currently stands at 7,23,619. Meanwhile, India has recorded 46,569 recoveries in the previous 24 hours, and the total recoveries have reached 3,45,00,172. The daily and weekly positivity rate stands at 13.29% and 7.92%, respectively. As per the Indian Council of Medical Research, the country has conducted 69.16 crore covid-19 tests so far. On the vaccination front, India has administered 151.94 covid-19 doses so far under the nationwide vaccination drive. The union health ministry also released the statewise status of Omicron cases. India has recorded a cumulative total of 4,033 Omicron cases, with Maharashtra (1,216) and Rajasthan (529) recording the most number of covid-19 cases.  https://twitter.com/PIB_India/status/1480408321731416065

Union Health Minister To Interact With State Health Ministers Tomorrow Over A Potential Third Wave Of Covid-19 

As India is being grasped by a potential third wave of the covid-19 pandemic caused by the Omicron variant, union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya might be interacting with state health ministers over the pandemic situation. Recently, prime minister Narendra Modi also did a covid-19 review meeting through a video conference. PM Modi's Security Breach: Supreme Court To Hear Plea Today 

After PM's Modi security breach incident during his Punjab visit, the Supreme Court of India will be hearing a plea seeking a court-monitored probe into the incident. A three-judge bench including Chief Justice NV Ramana, Justice Surya Kant and Justice Hima Kohli is expected to hear the plea. The plea says that the prime minister's security lapse was a deliberate action on the part of the state government, and strict action should be taken against the officials of the Punjab government. Senior advocate Maninder Singh said that PM Modi's security breach is not a law and order problem as it comes under the Special Protection Groups (SPG) Act and hence comes under parliamentary purview.
