Centre Tells States To Activate War Rooms Amid Omicron Threat

The central government has released a set of prevention and containment measures for states after Omicron cases crossed the 200 mark on Wednesday. The containment measures include extensive testing, door-to-door case searches, contact tracing of all covid-positive persons, night curfew and regulation of gatherings. The central government also told states to activate war rooms and use emergency funds for ramping up ambulances, oxygen equipment, hospital beds, and medication. The letter said that states "must be very prompt and focused and take containment measures and restrictions even before these thresholds are reached". The health ministry letter said that states should take these measures based on local conditions and send cluster infection samples to INSACOG labs for genome sequencing. Covid-Bulletin: India Registers 6,317 New Covid-19 Cases; Total Omicron Cases At 213

According to the latest data released by the union health ministry, India recorded 6,317 covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. The active caseload of the country currently stands at 78,190, which is the lowest in 575 days. Meanwhile, daily recoveries continue to outnumber active covid-19 cases, with recording 6,906 recoveries in the previous 24 hours. The daily and weekly positivity rate currently stands at 0.51% and 0.58%, respectively. As per the Indian Council of Medical Research, the country has conducted 66.74% covid-19 tests so far. On the vaccination front, India has administered 138.96 crore covid-19 vaccine doses under the nationwide vaccination drive. The union health ministry also released the statewise list of Omicron cases in India. Government Introduces The Prohibition Of Child Marriage Act, 2006 (Amendment) Bill In Lok Sabha

Amid heavy protests for opposition leaders, the centre introduced The Prohibition Of Child Marriage Act, 2006 (Amendment) Bill In Lok Sabha on Tuesday. The amendment bill has been introduced to increase the minimum age of marriage of women from 18 to 21 years, bringing it at par with the minimum marriage age of men. The opposition leaders have protested against the bill. While hitting out at the government for introducing the bill without any consultations with stakeholders, opposition members demanded that the bill should be sent to a standing committee. The bill also seeks to amend other acts, including the Indian Christian Marriage Act, 1872; Parsi Marriage and Divorce Act 1936; Muslim Personal Law (Shariat) Application Act, 1937; Special Marriage Act, 1954; Hindu Marriage Act, 1955 and Foreign Marriage Act, 1969 to bring uniformity in the age of marriage.  https://youtu.be/fCO5AEAQ01I

On Tuesday, Karnataka's capital Bengaluru was hit by an earthquake of 3.3 magnitude. As per the National Center for Seismology (NSC), Bengaluru's north-northeast area was hit by an earthquake at 07:14:32 IST. Tiger Shroff Suffers An Eye Injury On Sets Of Ganapath; Shares Picture

The action star of Bollywood, Tiger Shroff, is currently busy shooting for his upcoming film Ganapath: Part One in the United Kingdom. Known for doing unbelievable stunts in his movies, Tiger Shroff injured himself on the sets. Sharing a picture of a swollen-dark eye, Tiger wrote: "S*** happens (hot face and ninja emoji) #ganapath final countdown (sic)." In the picture, Tiger is wearing a black jacket with a green T-shirt underneath as David Guetta ft. Ne-Yo and Akon's song Play Hard is playing in the background. Ganapath: Part One will mark the second collaboration between Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon.
