Covid-19 Containment Measures Extended Till 31st October
On Tuesday, the central government extended the nationwide covid-19 guidelines, including containment measures till 31st October 2021, given the localised spreads of the virus in a few states and covid-19 still being a public health challenge for the country. Union home secretary Ajay Bhalla also said that people should strictly adhere to covid-appropriate behaviour during the upcoming festival and cautioned that failing to do so can lead to a surge in daily covid-19 cases again. Bhalla added that though covid-19 cases are decreasing steadily on a daily basis, it is still a public health challenge in the country. The guidelines include focusing on districts with high positivity rates and taking proactive containment measures in all those districts to contain the spread of novel coronavirus. The home secretary also asked all states/UTs to closely monitor case positivity, availability of ICU beds in hospitals falling under their jurisdiction.
