Delta Variant Predominant Even After Vaccination Says AIIMS Study

An AIIMS study including 63 people with breakthrough infections found out that the presence of covid-19 Delta variant (B1.617.2) is predominant even after taking both the shots of vaccine. Out of the 63 people, 36 patients had received two doses, and the remaining 27 had received a single dose of vaccine. The AIIMS study said: "The B.1.617.2 or popularly referred to as Delta variant of covid-19, was first described in India and associated with increased transmissibility as well as immune escape and has grown to become one of the predominant lineages in India." Ten patients in the study received Covishield, and other 53 received Covaxin. The study added that no difference in the effect of lineage was found in both single-dose vaccinated group or double-dose vaccinated group. However, the study showed no reports of death in the sample size even though almost every patient complained of high-grade unremitting fever for 5-7 days.  https://youtu.be/nTui9LhbrOs

Jitin Prasada Leaves Congress, Join Hands With BJP

Congress leader and former union minister Jitin Prasad snapping his three generations of family ties with the Indian National Congress, joined the ruling party, BJP, on Wednesday. The political move was a surprise after BJP spokesperson Anil Baluni tweeted the arrival of Prasada in the saffron party. After Jyotiradiya Scindia parted ways with Congress complaining of no significant role to play in party affairs, Prasada is the latest person to leave the opposition party. There have been rumours of unhappiness in a section of the brahmin community towards the Yogi Adityanath-led government; Prasada's entry into the party is quite timely. Speaking about joining BJP, Prasada said: "If there is any political party or a leader standing for the interests of the nation today, given the situation that our country is going through, it is BJP and PM Narendra Modi," Losing a senior leader like Jitin Prasada who had played a crucial role in the Narsimha Rao government will be a big blow for the Congress.  https://youtu.be/V0hSiV6jIDQ https://twitter.com/JPNadda/status/1402582912990474240
