Union Government Announces Early MSP For Rabi Crops
On Wednesday, the Union government has approved support prices of six crops with the highest percentage hike of 8.6% to rapeseeds, mustard and the lowest hike of 2% to wheat for the marketing session that will begin in April next year. The MSP hikes have been done so that farmers opt for crop diversification and for boosting the production of oilseeds. The announcement made by the Union Cabinet also seems like an effort to send a positive signal to the farmers of Punjab, Haryana and Western Uttar Pradesh who are protesting over the three farm laws. Speaking about the same, the agricultural minister Narendra Singh Tomar said: “All those who have been propagating misleading information must take a message from the announcement. The rate of MSP and procurement of crops at support prices are increasing continuously after the enactment of the farm laws,”
