India Held First Diplomatic Talks With The Taliban
On Tuesday, India admitted having held diplomatic talks with the Taliban. An Indian envoy met with a leader of the terrorist group in Doha, Qatar. While talking to the Taliban in an official capacity, India focused on issues such as safe evacuation and terrorism. Meanwhile, the US president, Joe Biden, while addressing the nation on Tuesday, said: “We no longer had a clear purpose in an open-ended mission in Afghanistan. This is the right decision. A wise decision. And the best decision for America,”

Covid-Bulletin: India Records 41,000+ Covid-19 Cases
According to the latest data released by the Union Health Ministry, India recorded 41,965 fresh covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. The active caseload of the country currently stands at 3,78,181, constituting 1.15% of total covid-19 cases reported in the country. Meanwhile, the recovery rate stands at 97.51%, with recording 33,964 recoveries in the previous 24 hours. The daily and weekly positivity rate currently stands at 2.61% and 2.58%, respectively. As per the Indian Council of Medical Research, India has conducted 52.31 crore covid-19 tests. On the vaccination front, India has administered a total of 65.41 crore covid-19 vaccine doses so far under the nationwide vaccination drive. The country has also administered 1.33 crore covid-19vaccine doses in a single day, which is the highest ever.

Weather Update: IMD Predicts Heavy Rainfall Over Parts Of Delhi NCR
As per the Indian Meteorological Department, parts of Delhi NCR are likely to receive moderate to heavy rainfall. Delhi: School Reopen In The Capital Amid A Fear Of the Third Wave
On Wednesday, after following a long hiatus due to the covid-19 pandemic, students of classes 9-12 returned to schools in Delhi. On Friday, the Delhi government had announced that schools from classes 9-12, colleges, and coaching institutions would open from 1st September 2021. However, it also cleared that no student will be forced to attend physical classes, and parent’s consent is mandatory. The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) notified several guidelines for the functioning of the school, including staggered lunch breaks, alternate seating arrangements, and mandatory thermal screening.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to release a commemorative coin of Rs 125 to mark the birth anniversary of Srila Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, the founder of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKON), also known as Hare Krishna Movement. An official release by Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said: “Prime Minister Modi will release a special commemorative coin of Rs 125 and will also address the gathering, on the occasion of the 125th birth anniversary of Srila Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada on 1st September 2021 at 4:30 pm via video conferencing,” ISKON has played a stellar role in the dissemination of Vedic literature and has translated the Bhagavad Geeta into 89 languages.

Tokyo Paralympics: Mariyappan Thangavelu Secures Silver For India
While Sharad Kumar got the Bronze medal in men’s high jump (T63) at the Tokyo Paralympics, Indian player Mariyappan Thangavelu secured the silver medal, clearing the 1.86 m mark to win the silver medal. On Monday, javelin throw Sumit Antil and shooter Avani Lekhara brought gold medals home. So far, India has secured two gold, five silver, three bronze medals at the Tokyo Paralympics.
