According to the latest data released by the Union Health Ministry, India has recorded 37,154 covid-19 infections in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative total to 4,50,899. The active cases comprise of 1.46% of the total covid-19 cases. In the last 24 hours, 724 more people have succumbed to death due to covid-19 taking the fatality count to 4,08,764. India's weekly positivity rate is below 5% and currently stands at 2.32%. Meanwhile, India continues to records more recoveries than fresh active covid-19 cases, with the recovery rate currently at 97.22%. Parts Of Haryana, Uttar Pradesh Likely To Receive Moderate Rainfall

On Monday, The Indian Meteorological Department has informed that some parts of Uttarakhand, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall today. The department's tweet read: "12/07/2021: 08:00 IST; Light to Moderate rain would occur over isolated places of Saharanpur, Atrauli, Moradabad (U.P), Roorkee (U.K), Yamunanagar (Haryana) and adjoining areas during the next 2 hours." Puri To Observe Two-Day Curfew As Rath Yatra Celebrations Begins Today

As the Rath Yatra celebrations for nine days are set to begin today, Odisha has imposed a two-day curfew in the Puri region, and a total of 65 platoons of police force have been deployed across the city. Confirming about the same, Narasingha Bhol, IGP Northern Range, said: "Ahead of Rath Yatra, curfew has been imposed from 8 pm, July 11 till 8 pm, July 13 in Puri. 65 platoon have been deployed at different points. No devotees are permitted to attend the yatra," This will be the second Rath Yatra that will see zero footfalls of devotees amid the covid-19 pandemic. Meanwhile, Jagannath Temple Chief Administrator Krishan Kumar informed that all the arrangements relating to the yatra were completed, and the raths have arrived at the Singh Dwar. Krishan Kumar also informed that only those who have tested negative for covid-19 or fully vaccinated would be allowed to participate in the pulling of chariots. Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath Announces New Population Policy

The Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government, on Saturday, announced the new population policy for 2021-2030. Speaking about why Uttar Pradesh needs a befitting population policy, CM Yogi Adityanath said: "Increasing population can be an obstacle to development," The new population policy aims to control the increasing population, and the two-child norm would be implemented and promoted. A person having more than 2 children would be exempted from receiving many benefits such as ration card units would be limited to four, government-sponsored welfare schemes and won't be able to contest elections to the local authority or any body of the local self-government as per the draft released by the state government. Apart from this, the person will also be ineligible to apply for government jobs under the state government or any promotion in government services and will not receive any kind of subsidy. Twitter Appoints Local Grievance Officer For India

After filing a monthly compliance report on censure of objectionable and unlawful content, Twitter has appointed a local grievance officer for India, indicating that the micro-blogging site is finally giving in to the new IT rules mandated by the central government. Earlier, the Delhi High Court refused to give interim protection to Twitter and gave a free hand to the government to act against Twitter for any violation of the new IT rules. Twitter is facing quite a number of FIRs against it, including one related to child pornographic material.
