According to the latest data released by the Union Health Ministry, India has reported 42,015 new covid-19 infections in the last 24 hours. However, daily death counts have seen a jump, with 3,998 more people succumbing to death due to covid-19; this is the highest since 12th June, as reported by the Health Ministry. India has reported a recovery of 36,977 patients between Tuesday and Wednesday, and the total recoveries stand at 3,03,90,687. The daily positivity rate currently stands at 2.27%, less than 3% for 30 consecutive days. Meanwhile, the testing capacity has been ramped up. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, the country has tested 18.52 lakh tests in the last 24 hours, taking the total cumulative test conducted to 44,91,93,273. On the vaccination front, India has administered 41.54 crore covid-19 vaccine doses so far under the nationwide inoculation drive.
No Deaths Reported Due To Lack Of Oxygen By States/UTs Says Centre
On Tuesday, the central government told Parliament that no deaths were reported due to lack of oxygen by states/UTs during the second wave of the covid-19 pandemic. The statement drew a lot of criticism on social media, given the fact that many people lost their near and dear ones due to lack of oxygen. However, Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said that the statement was based on the data provided by states/UTs and also noted that all states/UTs were urged to report all covid-19 cases and deaths. Junior Minister for Health, Bharti Pravin Paawar, during a discussion in the Rajya Sabha, said: “Detailed guidelines for reporting of deaths have been issued by the Union Health Ministry to all states/UTs. Accordingly, all states/ UTs report cases and deaths to the Union Health Ministry on a regular basis. However, no deaths due to lack of oxygen have been specifically reported by states/UTs,”

Let us resolve to follow COVID-19 guidelines and work for happiness of all,” Eid Ul Adha or Eid-Ul-Zuha is celebrated on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijaah and two days after the beginning of the Hajj pilgrimage. The festival marks animal sacrifice as a symbol of Ibrahim’s sacrifice to Allah.

After Congress attacked the government on their mishandling of the second wave of the covid-19 pandemic, Prime Minister Modi said that Congress has not come out of a coma after its defeat in West Bengal, Kerala, and Assam and unable to digest BJP in power. During a weekly meeting with BJP MPs, PM Modi condemned Congress’ act and called it ‘unfortunate and irresponsible’. The Prime Minister was quoted as saying: “Congress still has a sense of entitlement that it has ruled the country for 60 years, and it is because of this that they haven’t been able to digest the fact that people have chosen us. As an opposition, they should take up issues of people’s welfare strongly which they aren’t doing,” PM Modi made the remarks after Parliament had a rough start to the monsoon session when opposition parties started slogan-shouting protesting over centre’s mishandling of covid-19 crisis, price rise and the Pegasus scandal. On Monday, PM Modi was repeatedly interrupted as he tried to introduce new ministers in the Lok Sabha.
Gangotri National Highway Blocked Due To Heavy Landslide
Due to landslide triggered by heavy rainfall, the Gangotri National Highway located at the Sunagar region of Uttarkashi district, Uttarakhand, has been blocked as reported by the Uttarkashi district administration officials. Due to the heavy landslide, the highway is blocked for over 13 hours, and due to the lack of a Poclain Machine, The Border Road Organization (BRO) is unable to open the highway immediately. However, BRO is continuously working to open the highway as soon as possible, as per officials.

Indian National Lok Sabha Dal supremo and former Haryana Chief Minister OP Chautala on Tuesday visited the Ghazipur border protest site and said that the centre’s farm laws should be withdrawn. Speaking to the news agency, ANI, Chautala said: “These laws should be withdrawn. India is an agriculture-based country. Agriculture is the backbone of the Indian economy. This agitation is not only for farmers and labourer’s but for the entire nation. We will fight for farmer’s rights,” The ongoing farmers protest started on 26th November last year to protest against the three farm laws introduced by the central government – The Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020; The Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act and the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020.
