Some States Showing A Rise In R-Number Is A Matter Of Concern Says Centre

Some states, including Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Mizoram, Karnataka and UTs, including Lakshadweep, Puducherry and Jammu & Kashmir, are showing a trend of increasing R-Number. The R-number basically indicates how many persons can a single covid-19 patient infect. Lav Agarwal, Health Ministry Joint Secretary, said: "Whenever this number is at more than one, this means that the case trajectory is increasing and thus needs to be brought under control," Nine Indian states, including West Bengal, Goa, Haryana, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Jharkhand, Delhi, and Maharashtra have the R-value exactly at one. The centre also pointed out 44 such districts with a positivity rate above 10%, of which 30 are in northeastern states, primarily Mizoram (6) and Manipur (9), and 10 are in Kerala. The increasing trend of R-number is a matter of concern as India's R-number is now at par with the US, Australia and Canada. Currently, Kerala is the one state which has more than 1 lakh active covid-19 cases and accounts alone for 40.6% of daily reported new covid-19 cases in the country.  https://youtu.be/o8kqSA12NMM

India, China Likely To Establish A Buffer Zone In The Gogra-Hot Springs-Kongka La Sector

After having a series of talks regarding the troop disengagement in eastern Ladakh, India and China are planning to establish a 'buffer zone' or 'no patrolling' region at one of the friction points in the Gogra-Hot-Springs-Kongka La sector. A source close to the development said: "The phased disengagement with physical verification at patrolling point-17A is likely to kick off over the next few days, once the in-principle agreement reached during the 12th round of corps commander-level talks last Saturday is ratified by the two governments. China's official confirmation is awaited," Meanwhile, both armies continue to maintain thousands of troops with heavy weaponry like air defence batteries and howitzers along the line of actual control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh. The Indian side believes that the troop disengagement from the friction points and consequent de-escalation by both forces are critical to improving India-China bilateral ties. However, China still wants the border dispute to be kept at an appropriate place without its effect on overall relations.  https://youtu.be/Eaboyt4abU0
