Covid Bulletin: India Records An Increase In Active Covid-19 Cases
According to the latest data released by the Union Health Ministry, India has recorded 45,892 covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative total to 3,07,09,557. Active covid-19 cases stood 5% higher than yesterday, and the daily positivity rate stands at 2.42%. Meanwhile, after a 55-day rally, India has logged lesser recoveries as compared to fresh covid-19 cases, with 44,291 people discharged between Wednesday and Thursday. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, India has tested 42,52,25,897 samples so far. On the vaccination front, India has administered 36,48,47,549 anti-covid jabs, and out of these, 33,81,671 doses were administered in the previous 24 hour period.
8 States With High Positivity Rate Asked To Take Strict Action To Control The Spread Of Covid-19 Cases
After 8 states in India saw a rise in covid-19 cases, Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan has urged these states to take immediate action to bring down the covid-19 cases and share details of the action taken as per the Disaster Management Act. The eight states are Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Odisha, Tripura, Meghalaya, Assam and Kerala. The districts in these states have a positivity rate above 10%. Health Secretary, in his letter to Chief Secretaries, said: “Although the trajectory of daily new cases has come down substantially in the country, there is need for continued monitoring of weekly case positivity, as well as case trajectory in each district to identify any early warning signals of the spread of infection, “The central government has urged these states to put strict containment measures, increase testing and ramp up the vaccination drive. 60% of the districts in India with a high positivity rate are located in the northeast part of the country.

Department Of Public Enterprises (DPE) Brought Under Ministry Of Finance
The central government has brought the Department of Public Enterprises under The Ministry of Finance, which is seen as a move to speed up the privatization process and greater control of the Finance Ministry over state-run enterprises. The Department of Public Enterprises has long been a part of the Ministry of Heavy Industries. Earlier, the Ministry of Finance had expenditure, revenue and economic affairs departments. The subsequent department brought under the control of Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is financial services, department of investments and public asset management and public enterprises. The Finance Minister will now have authority over 6 departments, with all the six secretaries reporting to her apart from the Chief Economic Advisor.
Newly Formed Cabinet 2.0 To Meet BJP President JP Nadda Today
The Modi government conducted the cabinet reshuffling process yesterday at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, with 43 political leaders taking oaths as ministers and resuming duty for the respective ministries. All the newly inducted ministers will have a meeting with the Bhartiya Janata Party President Jagat Prakash Nadda at party headquarters today. Some of the key ministers included in the cabinet are Sarbananada Sonowal, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Pashupati Kumar Paras and Bhupender Yadav. As many as seven women took oath as Union Ministers, including Darshana Vikram Jardosh, Annapurna Devi, Meenakshi Lekhi, Anupriya Patel, Shobha Karandlaje, Pratima Bhoumik and Bharati Pravin Pawar.

Former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister and Senior Congress Leader Virbhadra Singh passed away due to post-covid complications. Taking to Twitter, Prime Minister Modi tweeted: “Shri Virbhadra Singh Ji had a long political career, with rich administrative and legislative experience. He played a pivotal role in Himachal Pradesh and served the people of the state. Saddened by his demise. Condolences to his family and supporters. Om Shanti,” To mourn the death of Former CM, the state of Himachal Pradesh will observe a state mourning from 8th-10th July. Virbhadra Singh was a five-time member of Parliament and served as Himachal Pradesh’s CM for six terms.

Delhi Jal Board Vice Chairman Raghav Chadha Conducts Surprise Inspection Of Underground Reservoirs
In a surprise inspection, Delhi Jal Board Vice-Chairman Raghav Chadha inspected the condition of underground reservoirs in the west, and central Delhi at around 4 am on Thursday. Mr Chadha took to Twitter and wrote: “Inspected several water reservoirs of Central & West Delhi with @DelhiJalBoard officials at 4 am this morning to check the water supply. Given strict instructions to officials to maintain pre-determined water levels at each such reservoir so that water supply is regular and uninterrupted,” Apart from inspection, Mr Chadha also attended to some phone calls and asked if the issue related to water supply had been resolved or not.
