Covid Bulletin: India Records An Increase In Active Covid-19 Cases

According to the latest data released by the Union Health Ministry, India has recorded 45,892 covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative total to 3,07,09,557. Active covid-19 cases stood 5% higher than yesterday, and the daily positivity rate stands at 2.42%. Meanwhile, after a 55-day rally, India has logged lesser recoveries as compared to fresh covid-19 cases, with 44,291 people discharged between Wednesday and Thursday. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, India has tested 42,52,25,897 samples so far. On the vaccination front, India has administered 36,48,47,549 anti-covid jabs, and out of these, 33,81,671 doses were administered in the previous 24 hour period. https://youtu.be/heFq-5rmUTY

8 States With High Positivity Rate Asked To Take Strict Action To Control The Spread Of Covid-19 Cases

After 8 states in India saw a rise in covid-19 cases, Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan has urged these states to take immediate action to bring down the covid-19 cases and share details of the action taken as per the Disaster Management Act. The eight states are Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Odisha, Tripura, Meghalaya, Assam and Kerala. The districts in these states have a positivity rate above 10%. Health Secretary, in his letter to Chief Secretaries, said: "Although the trajectory of daily new cases has come down substantially in the country, there is need for continued monitoring of weekly case positivity, as well as case trajectory in each district to identify any early warning signals of the spread of infection, "The central government has urged these states to put strict containment measures, increase testing and ramp up the vaccination drive. 60% of the districts in India with a high positivity rate are located in the northeast part of the country. https://twitter.com/timesofindia/status/1412700111889571843

Department Of Public Enterprises (DPE) Brought Under Ministry Of Finance

The central government has brought the Department of Public Enterprises under The Ministry of Finance, which is seen as a move to speed up the privatization process and greater control of the Finance Ministry over state-run enterprises. The Department of Public Enterprises has long been a part of the Ministry of Heavy Industries. Earlier, the Ministry of Finance had expenditure, revenue and economic affairs departments. The subsequent department brought under the control of Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is financial services, department of investments and public asset management and public enterprises. The Modi government conducted the cabinet reshuffling process yesterday at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, with 43 political leaders taking oaths as ministers and resuming duty for the respective ministries. All the newly inducted ministers will have a meeting with the Bhartiya Janata Party President Jagat Prakash Nadda at party headquarters today.
