Covid Bulletin: India Reports 35,000+ Active Covid-19 Cases

According to the latest data released by the Union Health Ministry, India has recorded 38,792 new covid-19 infections in the last 24 hours, which is 23% higher than yesterday. The country reported 624 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the total death count to 4,114,08. Meanwhile, India's recovery rate continues to get better, currently standing at 97.28%, with 41,000 covid-19 patients discharged in the last 24 hours. The active covid-19 cases constitute 1.39% of total cases recorded in India. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, India has tested 43.59 crore samples till now. The Third Wave Of The Covid-19 Is Already In The World Says, VK Paul

During the official briefing of the Union Health Ministry, Niti Aayog member (Health) VK Paul on Tuesday mentioned that there is already a third wave in the world, and the wave has already reported 3.90 lakh cases which is the 40% cases reported in the second wave of the pandemic. "Our task is to ensure that the wave does not come to India," added Paul. Speaking about the global data of covid-19 cases, the Ministry said that countries including Bangladesh, Indonesia, Russia, and United Kingdom are witnessing a surge in active covid-19, indicating a third wave of the pandemic in the world. However, the Ministry said India sees a decline in active cases but some states such as Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura are not showing any improvement and contributing to most of the active covid-19 cases recorded in the country. According to the Ministry's data, some states showed improvement in the initial stage, but now the decline has stopped, and the situation has reached a plateau. Uttarakhand CM Calls Off Kanwar Yatra

On Tuesday evening, the Pushkar Dhami-led Uttarakhand government decided to cancel the Kanwar Yatra. There were many speculations that the Uttarakhand CM might go ahead with the Yatra after Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath considered allowing kanwarias from UP to Haridwar with a negative RT-PCR test, but the Uttarakhand CM decided to cancel the yatra amid fear of a third wave of the covid-19 pandemic. Confirming about the same, CM Pushkar Dhami said: "At a time when the threat of covid-19 is still looming, and a case of the Delta-Plus variant has also been reported from Uttarakhand, we cannot allow Haridwar to become a hotbed of the pandemic. People's lives are important, and we cannot play around with them. It is important to save lives during a pandemic. Even god will not like if any lives are lost," Reportedly, The Uttarakhand CM had met PM Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi regarding the Kanwar Yatra issue, and both pointed out the disastrous effect that Kumbh Mela had last year and how covid-19 norms were violated. 4 More Zika Virus Cases Reported In Kerala; Alert Issued In All Districts

Kerala has reported 4 new cases of Zika Virus taking the total tally to 23 in the state, as reported by Kerala Health Minister Veena George. Among the 4 new cases reported in the state, one is a doctor working in a private hospital and a 16-year old girl. Kerala reported the first case of Zika Virus on 9th July. S Jaishankar Likely To Hold A Bilateral Meet With Chinese Counterpart Wang Yi

There are reports that External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar might hold a bilateral meet with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Foreign Ministers meeting scheduled to happen in Tajikistan. The bilateral meet will be a face to face interaction between both the Indian and Chinese representatives since the standoffs started last year at the Line of Actual Control. In September last year, the leaders met in Moscow and discussed the standoffs at Ladakh, which had seen violent crashes between both countries. Last year, S Jaishankar had conveyed a bold and clear message to Wang Yi that what happened in the Galwan Valley region was a "pre-mediated and planned action that was directly responsible for the resulting violence and causalities," In February 2021, India and China started the disengagement of the frontline troops in the Pangong lake area in Ladakh. Roger Federer To Not Be A Part Of The Tokyo Olympics Due To Knee Injury
