The capital has recorded the highest temperature this year so far at 43 degrees Celsius. Areas such as Ridge Road, Pusa Road and Lodhi Road witnessed a severe heatwave. A wave is termed a heatwave when the maximum temperature is more than 40 degrees Celsius and at least 4.5 notches above normal. The head of the IMD's regional forecasting centre, Kuldeep Srivastava, said: "Usually, the capital witnesses heat waves till June 20. The increase in the maximum temperature this time can be attributed to the delay in the arrival of the monsoon," A similar heatwave is predicted in the capital on Wednesday as well. The Indian Meteorological Department had predicted the arrival of monsoon earlier this year, but there have been no signs of rainfall in the last three days; instead, warm westerly winds are blowing across a major part of northwestern India. https://twitter.com/Indiametdept/status/1410114997775073280
