Covid Bulletin: India Reports Lowest Covid-19 Cases In Nearly 4 Months

According to the data released by the Union Health Ministry, India has recorded 34,703 new covid-19 infections in the last 24 hours. The country has reported the lowest covid-19 cases in 111 days. Meanwhile, daily recoveries continue to outnumber newly reported covid-19 cases as 51,864 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours, taking the total recoveries to 2,97,52,294. The recovery rate in India currently stands at 97.17%. The daily positivity rate stands at 2.11%, and the weekly positivity rate remained below 5%. India started its inoculation drive on 16th January and has administered 35.75 crore vaccine doses so far. Deadline For Public Comments On Amendments To The Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020 Extended

On Monday, The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution released an official notification and extended the deadline for public comments on proposed amendments to the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020, till July 2021. The notification said: "In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-clause of sub-section (1) of section 101 of the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 (35 of 2019), the central government on July 23, 2020, had notified the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020. It has now been decided to extend the timeline for receipt of comments, suggestions on the Draft E-Commerce Rules. Views, comments or suggestions on the proposed amendments may be sent by July 21, 2021, by email on the official link."

Delimitation Commission To Arrive In Srinagar On A Four-Day Visit

The delimitation commission is expected to arrive in Srinagar on a four-day visit to interact with the political leaders and civil society groups to carve out new constituencies in Jammu & Kashmir. The delimitation commission is led by Justice (retd) Ranjana Prakash Desai. Political parties, including National Conference (NC), CPI (M), National Panthers Party (NPP) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), are still indecisive about meeting the commission members. The People's Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) on Monday said that there had been no joint decision on the proceedings of the commission, and it has been left to individual parties to decide whether they want to be a part of the process. After the completion of the delimitation exercise, the number of assembly seats will increase from 83 to 90. PM Modi Opens The CoWIN Platform To All Countries

Prime Minister, while addressing the global conclave via video conference, said that CoWIN will be made open-source and will be available to all countries. He said that India is using the CoWIN platform to spearhead its covid-19 vaccination drive and aims to do digital public good to the world. PM Modi also said that India is committed to share its resources with the global community and help fight the covid-19 pandemic on the international front. Dr RS Sharma, CEO of the National Health Authority (NHA), has said that around 50 countries, including Uganda, Panama, Mexico, Nigeria and Canada, have shown interest in using the CoWIN platform for their respective vaccination drive. West Bengal Government Starts Vaccination On Boat Programme In Sunderbans

The West Bengal government has started the Vaccination On Boat programme on the islands of Sunderbans and has vaccinated around 150 people. The boat carrying officials reached the Kumirmari island and will be stationed there for five days. South 24 Parganas District Magistrate P Ulganathan said: "Vaccination coverage in islands is very less. A large number of labourers are left out of the vaccination scheme due to inaccessibility and difficulties in reaching out to them. Chehre director Rumi Jaffrey has said that actor Rhea Chakraborty is still in the trauma of her boyfriend and actor Sushant Singh Rajput's death and will not be a part of the film's promotion. Upcoming Test Series Between England And India Might See Spectators

After UK Prime Minister Borris Johnson announced that all covid-19 restrictions would end on 19th July, the upcoming test series between England and India is set to have a capacity crowd in attendance. All the covid-19 guidelines, such as wearing of masks and limiting crowd at indoor, outdoor and sports events, will end on 19th July. The Indian players will reassemble for the next game on 14th July.
