PM Modi Lands In Glasgow For COP26 Summit

After the G20 Summit in Rome, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Glasgow, UK, for the COP26 Summit. Taking to Twitter, PM Modi tweeted: "Landed in Glasgow. Will be joining the @COP26 Summit, where I look forward to working with other world leaders on mitigating climate change and articulating India's efforts in this regard," PM Modi's European leg is scheduled to begin today with a meeting with community leaders. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will then proceed for the World Leaders' Summit (WLS) at the 26th Conference of Parties (COP26) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), which is going to take place at the Scottish Event Campus (SEC) in Glasgow. On the sidelines of the Summit, PM Modi is expected to have a bilateral meeting with the UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, and the talks would focus on the UK-India Climate Partnership and the 2030 roadmap for a stronger UK-India partnership which was signed in May this year. Ahead of the Summit, PM Modi said in a statement: "India is among the top countries in the world in terms of installed renewable energy, wind and solar energy capacity. At the WLS, I will share India's excellent track record on climate action and our achievements. Covid-Bulletin: India Registers 12,514 New Covid-19 Cases; Recovery Rate At 98.20%

According to the latest data released by the Union Health Ministry, India has registered 12,514 new covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. The active caseload of the country currently stands at 1,58,817, which is the lowest in 248 days. Meanwhile, daily recoveries continue to outnumber active covid-19 cases, with recording 12,718 recoveries in the previous 24 hours. The total recoveries in the country stand at 3,36,68,560. The daily and weekly positivity rate stands at 1.42% and 1.17%, respectively. As per the Indian Council of Medical Research, the country has conducted 60.92 crore covid-19 tests so far. G20 Summit Ends In Rome; No Time-Bound Agreement On Climate Change

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the G20 Summit and pushed for safeguarding the interests of the developing world at sessions on climate change and sustainable development, said G20 Sherpa and Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal. As leaders of the top economies ended the G20 Summit in Rome, no time-bound agreements were made this time. However, they all recommitted providing $100 billion per year to tackle climate change issues and vaccine equality to fight the covid-19 pandemic. Though all leaders committed to ending international financing for new coal plants by 2021, no mentions of domestic commitments were made. Other highlights of the G20 summit in Rome were recognition of more vaccines by the WHO, providing technology and finances for vaccine productions and mobilizing more public-private financing for environmental or green projects. Congress Chief Girish Chodankar: "BJP MP Tejasvi Surya Has Gutter-Level Thinking"

After BJP MP Tejasvi Surya claimed that Congress member Rahul Gandhi went to Goa because Thailand is not taking tourists due to the covid-19 pandemic, the statement did not go down well with the opposition party. Reacting to the statement, Congress Chief Girish Chodankar tweeted: "In an attempt to make @DrPramodPSawant feel CM of Thailand, @BJP4India MP @Tejasvi_Surya with his gutter-level thinking has compared Goa to #Thailand thereby insulting the women and people who have kept respect of the state high. Maharashtra BJP President Asks NCP Leader Nawab Malik To Stop Giving Threats 

On Sunday, Maharashtra BJP President Chandrakant Patil slammed NCP Minister Nawab Malik to stop issuing threats against NCB Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede. Mr Malik has accused Sameer Wankhede of playing at the hands of the BJP and also called the raid conducted on the cruise ship in Mumbai fake. While referring to Mr Malik's statement that he will do an expose at the upcoming winter session, Mr Patil said: "Malik can say whatever he wants to. Who has stopped you?
