PM Modi Withdraws Farm Laws; Shocking Announcement Before Elections

In a shocking announcement today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi informed that the central government is taking back the three controversial farm laws. The announcement came amid a massive farmers protest that has been going on for over a year. The government's decision to withdraw the farm laws came on the Guru Purab festival, wherein Guru Nanak Ji's birthday is celebrated across India. In the address to the nation at 9 am, PM Modi said: "Maybe something was lacking in our tapasya, which is why we could not convince some farmers about the laws. But today is Prakash Parv, not the time to blame anyone. Today, I want to tell the country that we have decided to repeal the three farm laws. I appeal to all farmers who are protesting, on this good day of Guru Purab, to go home in good spirits," "We have also taken another decision, a committee will be constituted to look into all aspects of agriculture," added the Prime Minister. Covid-Bulletin: India Registers 11,106 New Covid-19 Cases; Recovery Rate At 98.28%

According to the latest data released by the Union Health Ministry, India has registered 11,106 new covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. The active caseload of the country currently stands at 1,26,620. Meanwhile, daily recoveries continue to outnumber active covid-19 cases, with recording 12,789 recoveries in the previous 24 hours. The total recoveries in the country currently stand at 3,38,97,921. The daily and weekly positivity rate stands at 0.98% and 0.92%, respectively. As per the Indian Council of Medical Research, the country has conducted 62.93 crore covid-19 tests so far. Rakesh Tikait: Farmers Agitation Will End After Farm laws Gets Repealed in Parliament

After Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation at 9 am today and informed that the government is taking back the three controversial farm laws, Bharatiya Kisan Union leader Rakesh Tikait took to Twitter and said: "The agitation will not be withdrawn immediately, we will wait for the day when agricultural laws will be repealed in Parliament. Along with the MSP, the government should also discuss other issues of farmers". Meanwhile, a press statement by BKU quoted: "Samyukt Kisan Morcha welcomes this decision and will wait for the announcement to take effect through due parliamentary procedures," "SKM also reminds the Prime Minister that the agitation of farmers is not just for the repeal of the three black laws, but also for a statutory guarantee of remunerative prices for all agricultural produce and for all farmers," added BKU's official statement. Tamil Nadu: IMD Predicts Flash Floods In Puducherry, Tirupati, Karnataka

On Friday, the Indian Meteorological Department warned of flash floods in Tamil Nadu. It informed: "The Depression lay centered at 0530 hrs IST of 19th November 2021, over north coastal Tamil Nadu and neighbourhood, near Lat. 12.5°N and Long. 80.0°E, about 60 km south-southwest of Chennai and 60 km north- northeast of Puducherry. To weaken into a WML during next 12 hours," The Central Water Commission (CWC) has also issued an advisory to release water carefully to all dam operators. IMD also has a red alert issued for heavy rainfall in the next 24 hours.
