Red Alert Issued In Tamil Nadu; Heavy Rainfall Predicted

After a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal intensified into a depression, a red alert has been issued for heavy to very heavy rainfall across Tamil Nadu, including Chennai, and the alert has been issued for 20 districts. The depression is likely to move west-northwest and reach the northern coast of Tamil Nadu by tomorrow morning, causing heavy rainfall in neighbouring Karaikal and Puducherry. Ahead of the alert, the state government has set up 434 siren towers for providing flood and other emergency alert to authorities. In the capital, as many as 46 boats, earthmovers, 500 giant motors, and JCBs have been deployed to drain floodwaters and provide aid in rescue efforts. The MK Stalin-led government will also food packets to communities living in low-lying areas, and all schools, colleges have been shut in Tamil Nadu.  Here are the emergency numbers:

Covid-Bulletin: India Registers 11,466 New Covid-19 Cases; Recovery Rate At 98.25%

According to the latest data released by the Union Health Ministry, India has recorded 11,466 new covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. The active caseload of the country currently stands at 1,39,683, which is the lowest in 264 days. Meanwhile, daily recoveries continue to outnumber fresh covid-19 cases, with recording 11,961 recoveries in the previous 24 hours. The total recoveries in the country stand at 3,37,87,047. The daily and weekly positivity rate currently stands at 0.90% and 1.20%, respectively. As per the Indian Council Of Medical Research, the country has conducted 61.85 crore covid-19 tests so far. Chhath Puja: President Ram Nath Kovind Greets Nation On The Festival

On the auspicious occasion of Chhath Puja, President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, extended his warm wishes to the nation. Taking to Twitter, Mr Kovind wrote: "Greetings to all the countrymen on the auspicious occasion of Chhath Puja. This festival is an occasion to acknowledge our dependence on nature, especially the sun and water. I wish that along with making our cultural heritage strong; this festival should also strengthen our efforts to protect the environment," Chhath Puja is celebrated across India which includes, worshipping the sun, making satwik food and hopping from one mela to others. Delhi Government Sends Boats To Remove Toxic Foam From the Yamuna Amid Severe Criticism 

After the people of Delhi, several environmentalists and political parties raised concerns over toxic foam in the Yamuna river; the Delhi government has deployed as many as 15 boats to remove the poisonous foam from the river. The Arvind Kejriwal-led government was heavily criticized after videos of Chhath Puja devotees taking a dip in the Yamuna river along with toxic foams went viral. The political blame game has started with Delhi Jal Board VC Raghav Chadha expressing his anger over BJP ruled Uttar Pradesh and Haryana state for releasing wastewater into the river. The toxic foam formed over the Yamuna river is the result of high phosphate content caused by the discharge of industrial pollutants and increased ammonia levels. Raveena Tandon's OTT Debut 'Aranyak' To Release On 10th December 

The queen of the 90s and the Tip Tip fame, Raveena Tandon, is all set to make her OTT debut with Aranyak. In the series, Raveena will essay the role of a local cop who is on a spree to uncover the forgotten myth of a serial killing entity in the forest after a foreign teenage tourist goes missing in a dark, misty town. Aranyak is produced by Ramesh Sippy Entertainment and Roy Kapur Films and is helmed by Vinay Waikul. The digital series has a stellar cast, including Parambrata Chatterjee, Meghna Malik, Ashutosh Rana, Indraneil Sengupta and Zakir Hussain.
