S Jaishankar: India Will Stand By Afghans In This Hour Of Need

The External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, while giving a speech at a high-level UN meeting on the humanitarian crisis being faced by Afghanistan after the Taliban took over the country, said that India would stand by Afghans in this hour of need. Speaking about the same, S Jaishankar said: "Afghanistan is passing through a critical and challenging phase. There has been a sea change in its political, economic, social and security situation, and consequently, in its humanitarian needs. As an immediate neighbour, India is monitoring developments with understandable concern" "India's own approach to Afghanistan has always been guided by its historical friendship with its people. This will continue to be the case. For that reason, even in the past, we have contributed to the humanitarian requirements of that society," he added while mentioning the historical friendship of India with Afghanistan. After the Taliban's seize of power, Afghanistan's citizens have been facing a threat to human rights. Covid-Bulletin: India Registers 25,404 New Covid-19 Cases 

According to the latest data released by the Union Health Ministry, India reported 25,404 new covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. The active caseload currently stands at 3,62,207, constituting 1.09% of total covid-19 cases reported in the country. Meanwhile, the daily recoveries continue to outnumber fresh covid-19 cases, with recording 37,127 recoveries between Monday and Tuesday, taking the total recoveries to 3,24,84,159. The daily and weekly positivity rate currently stands at 1.78% and 2.07% respectively. As per the Indian Council of Medical Research, the country has conducted 54.44 covid-19 tests so far. WHO Likely To Give Approval To Covaxin By This Month

The World Health Organization is likely to give approval to Bharat Biotech developed covid-19 vaccine Covaxin by this month as per official sources. Till now, the WHO has approved the covid-19 vaccine for emergency use developed by Pfizer-BioNTech, Johnson & Johnson, Moderna, China's Sinopharm and Oxford-AstraZeneca. As informed by the central government in Rajya Sabha, Bharat Biotech has submitted all the documents required for the WHO's Emergency Use Listing (EUL) as of 9th July and WHO has started the review process. PM Modi To Participate In First-Ever Quad Leaders Summit 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to participate in the first-ever Quad leaders summit along with US President Joe Biden, Japan PM Yoshihide Suga and Australia PM Scott Morrison on 24th September. The press release released by the Ministry of External Affairs read: "As part of their ongoing efforts to contain the COVID-19 pandemic, they will review the Quad Vaccine initiative which was announced in March this year. They will also exchange views on contemporary global issues such as critical and emerging technologies, connectivity and infrastructure, cyber security, maritime security, humanitarian assistance/disaster relief, climate change and education. Bhupendra Patel Takes Oath As New Gujarat CM 

On Monday, Bhupendra Patel took oath as the 17th Chief Minister of Gujarat at the Gandhinagar Raj Bhawan and was sworn in by Governor Acharya Devvrat. After taking the oath, Mr Patel held a meeting with the bureaucrats and reviewed the flood situation in Rajkot and Jamnagar in the Saurashtra region. The cabinet members will be decided by Mr Shah, Mr Patel and other leaders of the party.
