Karnataka: BS Yediyurappa Resigns From The Post Of Chief Minister

On 26th July, BJP leader BS Yediyurappa resigned as Chief Minister the day he completed two years in office. In the last six months, BJP has removed many leaders, including Trivendra Singh Rawat and Tirath Singh Rawat from Uttarakhand. Though Yediyurappa's removal was imminent as he is 78-year old, which is way past BJP's 75 year's retirement age limit, it is believed that the move won't be without a political cost, especially because of Yediyurappa's tearful speech. In the next few days, a new Chief Minister of Karnataka will be announced, and he/she will have to lead the government for the next 21 months until the 2023 state elections. However, the BJP had a stroke of mixed luck whenever it has changed the CM of a state, including the examples of Delhi, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh. There are some states where the decision has worked in favour of the party, for example - Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. Meanwhile, if one looks at the political history of Karnataka, the state has also had a trend of changing CMs in the middle of his term. Till date, only 4 out of 19 Chief Ministers have completed their terms, all belonging from the Congress.  https://youtu.be/LE95rjE96ZU

Congress Puts Two Conditions For Parliament To Function

The central government has accused opposition parties of disrupting the ongoing session of both houses for the sixth day in a row. However, the leaders of the opposition party, Congress, have said that the Parliament is unable to function because the government was not agreeing to the legitimate demands made by the opposition parties. Congress has put forth two conditions for Parliament to function. Tweeting about the same, Congress Chief Whip in the Rajya Sabha, Jairam Ramesh, said: "1. Have a discussion on Pegasus snooping issue in presence of the Prime Minister or Home Minister. 2. Announce a Supreme Court-monitored inquiry into the scandal." Concurring with Jairam Ramesh, TMC leader Derek O' Brien said: "We need this. Not green tea at Piyush Goyal's office. Thanks. But no thanks," Ever since the Pegasus issue came into the spotlight, Congress leaders have been demanding an investigation by a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC); however, the party has now finalized its stand on JPC since it has limited powers. Speaking about the same, Congress senior leader Shashi Tharoor tweeted: "Opposition's demands have been clear from the beginning: discuss #PegasusProject w/ Prime Minister or Home Minister present, not just IT Minister, & conduct a Supreme Court-monitored investigation to establish the facts. Then Parliament can do the rest of its work undisturbed!" https://twitter.com/Jairam_Ramesh/status/1419618287067951105 https://twitter.com/derekobrienmp/status/1419626936838541313

Kriti Sanon Starrer Mimi Released 4 Days Ahead Of Its Scheduled Release Date

Netflix's latest release Mimi starring Kriti Sanon and Pankaj Tripathi has released on 26th July in India, four days ahead of its scheduled release date. Mimi was slated to release on 30th July. The reason why the makers of Mimi decided to prepone the film's release is that Mimi was leaked on pirated websites. However, the film has received a great review from the fans and critics, but the film being leaked online is sad news for the makers of the film. Many pirated sites, including TamilRockers, Onlinemovieswatches, 123movies, Filmyzilla and Telegram, streamed the unauthorized copies of Mimi in full HD and 4K on Monday. The film is based on surrogacy and showcases the journey of a dancer to being a surrogate mother. Mimi is directed by Dinesh Vijan.
