Liz Truss To Take Oath As UK PM; Her Key Cabinet To Not Have Any White Man!

After weeks of campaigning for the post of Prime Minister, the day of celebration finally came for UK leader Liz Truss.

Truss of British Conservative Party became the next Prime Minister of United Kingdom. With her victory, Truss will take over at a time when the country has been struggling with a number of issues, including the cost of living crisis, industrial unrest, and recession.

Now, as per the invitation of Queen Elizabeth II, Liz Truss will travel to Balmoral Castle, Scotland, to form a new government. In an official ceremony at the queen’s palace, she will take the oath as the new UK Prime Minister and announce her cabinet.

Truss secured the top position after weeks of tough competition with opposition candidate, ex-finance minister Rishi Sunak. According to sources, the announcement triggered the start of the administration handover from Boris Johnson. Earlier, in July, Boris Johnson was forced to resign after losing trust within his own party.

No White Man Cabinet of Liz Truss

As learnt from the sources, Liz Truss is expected to appoint James Cleverly as foreign secretary, Suella Braverman as home secretary, and Kwasi Kwarteng as chancellor.

It is important to note here that Indian-origin Rishi Sunak will not get any role in Liz Truss’s cabinet. The absence of Rishi Sunak from the newly formed cabinet will break the tradition where runner-up candidates have got an appointment into the cabinet.

Notably, for the first time in Britain’s history, no white man will be there in any of the 4 great offices of the country. This decision will mark the non-racist shift of the country’s position in the political arena.

PM Modi Greets Liz Truss On Her Win

Following the announcement of the new PM of Britain, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Monday, greeted newly elected Prime Minister Liz Truss for her victory as the third woman PM of Great Britain.

The Indian PM tweeted: “Congratulations @trussliz for being chosen to be the next PM of the UK. Confident that under your leadership, the India-UK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership will be further strengthened. Wish you the very best for your new role and responsibilities,”

Promises Liz Truss Made To The Public

During her campaigning, Truss, aged 47, had promised that she would act quickly to tackle crisis-ridden Britain. She said that she will devise effective plans to combat the rising energy bills and secure future fuel supplies in the country.

After contending in the race to replace Boris Johnson as Britain’s PM, Liz will become the fourth prime minister from the Conservative party.

Since 2015, the country has been experiencing one or the other type of crises. At present, the country is going through a long recession triggered by the surging inflation that hit 10.1% in July this year.

During her campaigning, Truss promised to appoint a strong cabinet that would dispense a presidential-style of governing. In addition, Truss has to win over some lawmakers who had backed her opposition contender Rishi Sunak in the Prime Minister race.
