#PFIBan: Social Media Accounts of PFI Down After Centre Announces Ban For 5 Years

#PFIBan: Social Media Accounts of PFI Down After Centre Announces Ban For 5 Years

After the central government announced a ban on the Popular Front of India and all its related associates under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), the social media platform Twitter banned the official account of PFI and several of its leaders. The Instagram and Facebook pages of Popular Front of India (PFI) are no longer available either. In the past few weeks, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) have conducted several raids on PFI and its members spread across various states. The central agencies have alleged that the Popular Front of India, an Islamist organisation has links with the Islamic State Terror Group and held arms training camps. Netizens have also been demanding #PFIBan on social media. Though PFI's student wing plans to go to Court against the centre's ban, the PFI has duly dissolved all its units, including Rehab India Foundation, All India Imams Council, National Confederation of Human Rights, Junior Front, Empower India Foundation, Rehab Foundation and Campus Front of India. A day before the ban, the PFI had issued a statement which read: "The organisation in its history of three decades has been endeavouring to prevent the youths from getting radicalised... and to bring them to the mainstream by instilling patriotism, strong allegiance to the Constitution of the country and respect the democratic values... Popular Front has never thought of or endeavoured to establish Islamic rule in the country." However, the central agencies have said that they found a bomb-making manual and physical education guidebooks, proving that the PFI wanted to establish Islamic rule in India by 2047. While the Congress in Kerala and the Indian Union Muslim League welcomed the ban on PFI, they said that RSS should be banned too. Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi has condemned the ban and said that an entire organisation should not be blamed for actions committed by some individuals. Rajasthan Political Crisis: Amid Political Drama, CM Ashok Gehlot To Meet Sonia Gandhi Today

Amid the political crisis in Rajasthan, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot is set to meet Congress interim Chief Sonia Gandhi in Delhi today. This all started on Sunday when 82 MLAs submitted their resignation to Rajasthan Assembly Speaker CP Joshi. The miffed MLAs and the loyalist of Gehlot opposed the selection of Sachin Pilot as the next Rajasthan Chief Minister if current CM Ashok Gehlot wins the Congress Presidential Post. Presenting three-point agenda, the MLAs said that a Chief Ministerial face should be chosen from the 102 MLAs who were loyal to the Congress Party in June 2020, deliberations on leadership should be made only after a new Congress President is appointed, and third, Gehlot's choice should be taken into consideration. However, this led to a political stand-off between the Congress leadership and Ashok Gehlot loyalists. Meanwhile, the report submitted to Sonia Gandhi says that Gehlot is not responsible for the political drama but recommended disciplinary action against prominent leaders who staged it. It remains to be seen if Ashok Gehlot would stick to his original plan and file his nomination for the Congress President post. https://youtu.be/MkuHfO1Wc8w
