Round Two of NIA Raids: 60 Members of Popular Front of India Picked Up in Karnataka

As part of the second phase of NIA raids, several members of the Islamic organisation Popular Front of India (PFI) were picked up in 8 states. The National Investigation Agency's crackdown that started this morning is still underway. As per reports, in Karnataka, as many as 60 PFI members have been picked up under preventive custody as part of NIA raids. The detained members would be produced before a local tehsildar, where NIA would seek their judicial custody, and if granted, they would be sent to prison. All the PFI members have been arrested under PAR (Preventive Action Report), so they need to give bond surety in front of the local tehsildar, and no FIR has been registered against them as well. NIA raids have been underway in Delhi, including Shaheen Bagh and Jamia, since late night Monday. Around 12 people have been detained by the central agency. Earlier on September 22, the National Investigation Agency (NIA), along with Enforcement Directorate (ED), carried out raids against the radical organisation Popular Front of India (PFI) in more than 90 locations in 15 states, including Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Goa, West Bengal, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Assam, Delhi, Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh among others. The members of PFI had said that the central government is misusing central agencies to silence voices. Rajasthan Political Crisis: CM Ashok Gehlot's Name Ruled Out As Party President After Rebellion

After 90 Rajasthan MLAs who are loyal to Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot staged a rebellion against making Congress leader Sachin Pilot as the next Rajasthan PM, the Congress top leadership is furious with Ashok Gehlot. Hence, his name has been ruled out for Congress presidential poll. Sources said that the Congress party is unhappy and disappointed with Gehlot for plotting a rebellion that has embarrassed the political party in the middle of Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra. Ashok Gehlot's refusal to give up the post of Rajasthan Chief Minister has annoyed the top leadership, revealed sources. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had made it clear to Gehlot that he would have to resign from the post of CM before his elevation as Congress president, given the party's one person, one post policy. As per reports, Ashok Gehlot had agreed, and the transition was to be formally announced at a meeting on Sunday. However, only about 20-25 MLAs showed up at Gehlot's residence. Over 90 MLAs took a special bus to Rajasthan Speaker's home and threatened to resign if Gehlot was replaced as Rajasthan Chief Minister by his rival Sachin Pilot. Meanwhile, the rebel MLAs also openly defied Congress President Sonia Gandhi's order. Although Ashok Gehlot has apologised, Congress has taken a serious view of the indiscipline by one of its most senior leaders. https://youtu.be/kcxulepCPgM
