The US Killed Top Al-Qaeda Leader Al-Zawahri In Afghanistan

On Monday, August 1, 2022, the United States president, Joe Biden, announced that the US killed the leader of al-Qaeda, Ayman al-Zawahri, in a drone strike in Kabul. The killing of the al-Qaeda chief in Kabul is the first US attack on Afghanistan's soil since the withdrawal of American forces last year.  The US president tweeted from his official Twitter account: "On Saturday, at my direction, the United States successfully conducted an airstrike in Kabul, Afghanistan that killed the emir of al-Qa'ida: Ayman al-Zawahiri". Jabalpur Fire Incident: Eight Dead And 5 Critically Injured In A Hospital Fire

Eight people, including four patients, were charred to death and five critically injured in a major fire that broke out in the New Life Multi Speciality hospital on Monday afternoon. According to Jabalpur Collector Ilayaraja T, four patients, a caregiver, and three staff members of the facility lost their lives in the four-story hospital building. Among the injured, two were admitted to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College in critical condition. Persons aware of the incident stated that around 20 to 25 persons were inside the hospital premises when the accident occurred. The news about the fire on the premises created havoc among patients and staff members, due to which everyone started to vacate the premises. However, only a few succeeded, and the rest died or were critically injured.  Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the loss of lives and tweeted- "Anguished by the loss of lives due to a fire at a hospital in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. Condolences to the bereaved families. I hope the injured recover at the earliest. The local administration is providing all assistance to those affected". PM Modi Officially Started Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign

On Tuesday, August 2, 2022, Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, changed his Twitter and Instagram profile picture to 'Tiranga' ahead of the Independence Day celebrations in the country.  On Sunday, July 31, 2022, PM Modi urged all citizens to turn the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign into a mass campaign by hosting or displaying the national flag at their homes and workplaces. He also urged everyone to put Tiranga as their profile picture on different social media accounts between August 2, 2022, and August 15, 2022, to commemorate the 75th anniversary of India's Independence.  From his Twitter account, he tweeted- "It is a special 2nd August today! Commonwealth Games 2022: Day 4 Updates

The 4th day at Birmingham 2022 was another memorable day for India as Indian athletes won three medals- one silver and two bronze- in different events. Indian shuttlers entered the finals of mixed team events after defeating Singapore in a 3-0 match. Now, they will compete against Malaysia in the summit clash. Meanwhile, the Indian hockey team played a 4-4 draw against England in a high-octane contest. In the first half, Manpreet and Co were leading the game; however, the other side bounced back in the latter half of the match. In the Table Tennis event, too, the Indian side succeeded in qualifying for the finals, where Sathiyan Gnanasekaran will face his opponent from Singapore. In the semifinals, he defeated Nigeria's Olajide Omotayo in a 3-0 match. Among the medal winners, Sushila Devi Likmabam won the Silver medal in Women's 48 kg Judo. Meanwhile, Vijay Kumar compromised with a bronze in the men's 60 kg Judo event. Covid-Bulletin: India Registers 13,734 New Cases, Recovery Rate At 98.49%

According to the latest data from the union health ministry, India has recorded 13,734 new covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. The active cases in the country currently stand at 1,39,792. Meanwhile, the nation has registered 17,897 recoveries in the previous 24 hours, and the total recoveries have reached 4,33,83,787. The daily and weekly positivity rates currently stand at 3.34 % and 4.79 %, respectively. As per the Indian Council of Medical Research, the country has conducted 87.58 crore Covid-19 tests so far.
