Most of the facts and information used in the movie are taken from author Hussain Zaidi’s book Mafia Queens of Mumbai, which Babu Rawji Shah calls defamatory and says that the source material violates his self-respect and right to privacy.  According to the recent reports, the Mumbai court has issued summons to filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, actor Alia Bhatt and author Hussain Zaidi in connection to the case. Both the parties related to the case are asked to appear before the Mumbai Court on 21st May.  Earlier, Rawji Shah has said that after the release of the film’s trailer, he has been harassed by his locality members and also referred to as coming from a prostitute family.  Gangubai Kathiawadi’s trailer received a lot of praise for the bold portrayal of the lead character. The film is set to hit the theatres on 30th July 2021.  Meanwhile, Alia will be next seen in Ayan Mukherji directed Brahmastra alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Amitabh Bachchan.
