Bold Statements Made By Cricketers That Stirred A Controversy

Not only Bollywood actors but even some statements made by cricketers have raised a stink. With the advent of social media platforms, cricketers have got up and close with media, and sometimes this equation hasn’t gone down too well.

Let’s look at some of the bold statement made by the cricketers in the heat of the moment, which should have never been uttered.

Virendra Sehwag: “Dhoni’s captaincy alone didn’t win the world cup for India,”

If you are a Sehwag fan, you must be aware that Sehwag’s interviews are full of catchy statements. Unlike his colleagues, Sehgwag doesn’t shy away from voicing out his opinions publicly. While the audience mostly loves Sehwag’s quirky one-liners but one statement about the world-cup winning captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni landed the outspoken cricketer in trouble. (Sehwag never misses an opportunity to crucify Dhoni’s actions)

Shahid Afridi: “Indians not as large-hearted as Pakistanis,”<

Shahid Afridi is probably one of the most loved cricketers around the world. Though Afridi has always rooted for India-Pakistan ties, he was invited as a special guest on a news channel where he slammed Indian media and said that Pakistanis are better human beings than Indians. The statement from Afridi caused quite a heated debate on social media.

Hardik Pandya: I like to watch and observe how they move. I’m a little from the Black side, so I need to see how they move.”

The racist and inappropriate statements made by Hardik Panday on Koffee With Karan season 6 is probably one of the most controversial statements ever made by a cricketer in India. Though Pandya has a long way to go in terms of his ability, his indecency while answering questions at the chat show really put him in trouble. Pandya was brutally trolled online, so much so that legal actions were taken against Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul, and BCCI also suspended them.

Kagiso Rabada: “Virat Kohli is immature, can’t take abuse.”

Kagiso Rabada and Virat Kolhi are two of the cricketers who reverberate in the entire cricket stadium. Before taking on India in a game, Rabada used the age-old technique of attacking the best batsman of the opposition; in this case, it was none other than Virat Kohli. Kagiso termed Kohli as immature and someone who cannot take sporting banter. Though Kohli didn’t take the comments seriously, Rabada did annoy Kohli’s fans!
