Coco Gauff Beats Karoline Muchova and Reaches the US Open Final

Thursday, 7 September, was very auspicious for fans of Coco Gauff, a 19-year-old teenager, who defeated Karoline Muchova, the number 10, by 6-4 and 7-5. The semifinal match of the US Open against Muchova was not easy and convenient for her. Coco Gauff, the no 6 tennis player, remained strong and had no distraction until the game had an interruption for 50 minutes. One of the environmental activists caused this interruption by gluing his to the concrete floor at Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York.

After defeating Muchova in the semifinal match, Coco Gauff is a win away from becoming a Grand Slam champion in the US Open. In the US Open Final, she has to face Aryna Sabalenka, who is set to be the No 1 in the tennis world in the next week. Coco Gauff, in the post-match interview at Arthur Ashe Stadium, said, “I really believe that now I have the maturity and ability to do it. You know, regardless of what happens on Saturday, I'm really proud of how I have been handling the last few weeks."

On her win against Muchova, she said further, “After Wimbledon, I wasn't expecting to do well, honestly, in this hard-court season. "So I'm really proud of the way I have been able to turn this season around for me." She added, “I'm having way more fun now.”

On the other side, Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus said about Coco Gauff, “Amazing player. I’ll be fighting for every point.” Sabalenka got a win over Madison Keys, the 2017 US open runner up in the topsy-turvy US Open semifinal at 1 am on Thursday. Her win against Madison Keys was 0-6, 7-6 (1), 7-6 (10-5). In January 2013, Sabalenka won the Australian Open 23-2.
