Manchester United Star Marcus Rashford Youngest Person To Top Sunday Times Giving List

England international Marcus Rashford has now become the youngest person to top the Sunday Times Giving List. The Manchester United star had received a lot of applause for successfully lobbying the UK Government to change its free school meals policy during the pandemic. The attacker also appeared at the top of the Young Rich List for the first time. Further, Liverpool star Jordan Henderson is sixth on this list. That too for his role in the #PlayersTogether Coronavirus appeal that had been sent out. The list is an annual measure of philanthropy that is done among the super-rich. The ranking is done on the basis of the amount that is raised or donated by an individual. Rashford has a total net worth of £16m.

What Were The Comments By Lindsay Boswell, FareShare Chief Executive About The Manchester United Star?

Rashford (23) was awarded an MBE back in October 2020. This was in relation to his services to vulnerable children. He really took some brave steps for his age, during the pandemic. Since then, he has formed a child food poverty task force. This has helped him link up and work with some of England's biggest supermarkets and food brands. Rashford has been an ambassador for FareShare. His efforts in recent times have triggered an estimated £20m of additional donations to the food poverty charity. This pushed Giving Index to 125, with the collected £20m representing 125 per cent of his total net worth of £16m. Keeping that in mind, Lindsay Boswell stated in a recent interview, "We are delighted Rashford has been honoured in this way. In all honesty, Marcus' support for FareShare over the last year, along with his commitment to tackling child hunger has simply been incredible. His own experience of relying on free school meals to eat brings authenticity and compassion to his campaigning. To add to that his status as a Premier League footballer means people and politicians sit up and take notice." Things are really looking good for the Manchester United star in every walk of him. However, he may want to win the Europa League final that is coming up against Villarreal soon. Let's see if Rashford and co. can actually deliver when it matters on the pitch!!
