Along with sharing his decision, the cricketer also shared a gratitude note thanking the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK).  https://twitter.com/ImRaina/status/1567041995608309761 Following the Suresh Raina retirement announcement, CSK CEO, who recently announced that MS Dhoni would lead the CSK brigade in the upcoming edition, appreciated Raina's decision and gave him best wishes.  He said: “Suresh Raina told us two days back about his decision that he is leaving IPL, and we respect his decision and wish him luck. A Glimpse At Suresh Raina Career

Suresh Raina's career as an Indian cricketer did not begin very smoothly. In his school days, Raina was beaten up with hockey sticks and was sent to hostel due to family's financial issues.  Since his hostel days, he has been interested in playing cricket. This led him to follow the path of becoming a cricketer. His outstanding performance in various school leagues made him popular among school teachers and his classmates. However, his popularity also became a hurdle, as some of his seniors were jealous of his outstanding performance. Due to this, he was bullied by them many times.  While pursuing his career as a professional cricketer, Suresh Raina witnessed popular power politics of Uttar Pradesh, where children of powerful people would take away opportunities meant for the local populace. Accordingly, Raina was rejected in his teen years because the selection committee opted for players belonging to influential families. However, Raina’s life took a significant turn in 1999, when he got a scholarship with Air India for Rs 10,000. At that time, Rs 10,000 seemed like millions to him. From this scholarship, he sent Rs 8,000 to his family, keeping the remaining amount. Another turning point for Suresh Raina came in 2003 when he went to England to play club cricket. There, he received 250 pounds for a week of cricket. He struggled in England as well due to his poor command on the English language. However, eventually he nourished his playing tactics and also on the English language. Thus, he emerged as a prominent cricketer for the Indian cricket team.

Suresh Raina IPL Career

Besides the 2016 and 2017 seasons, where the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) was banned from competing in the IPL, Suresh Raina has featured in every single league from 2008 to 2021. However, in the recent version of IPL, CSK overlooked Raina and avoided betting on him. Probably, that was where CSK lost the IPL tournament in 2022 As the cricketer decided to retire from all domestic leagues, the 2021 edition of the IPL marks Suresh Raina's last season with the CSK team. https://twitter.com/ChennaiIPL/status/1567125390065545216

Future Course

Some media reports suggests that Suresh Raina is keen to play T20 cricket leagues in the international arena, including in UAE, South Africa, and England. However, there is no official confirmation from the cricketer's side yet.  Meanwhile as Suresh Raina had announced his retirement from international cricket, these can be merely termed as baseless speculations.
