T20 World Cup: Akash Chopra Picks KL Rahul Ahead Of Virat Kohli For This Role

There have been quite a few doubts within the minds of the Indian fans about the opening partnership of Team India for the upcoming T20 World Cup. A lot of Pundits have given their verdict on the same for quite some time now. There have been a mix and match of certain combinations that have been talked about. Some of the fans are in favour of Shikhar Dhawan, while others want Rohit Sharma. A few of them are also happy with KL Rahul. An unpopular opinion is also of Virat Kohli taking up one of the slots. The combinations can be plenty and the fans and Pundits are often divided on this opinion.

What Did Akash Chopra Say About The Issue With The Indian Team For The T20 World Cup And Why Did He Pick KL Rahul Ahead Of Virat Kohli?

Former Indian opener and now turned Pundit Aakash Chopra came out and said recently that the final choice of the Indian openers for the upcoming T20 World Cup will perhaps be between two players. These are Virat Kohli and KL Rahul, in which he would favour the latter might come out on top. This is due to the fact that Rahul has done well at the top of the order. He further adds a second wicketkeeping choice to the team. On the other hand, Virat Kohli is better coming in the middle order. He can play that anchor role in the team and help them score more runs, as the innings progresses. Akash Chopra said on this YouTube channel that Rohit Sharma was an automatic choice. He further went on to add, “India have a lot of choices. Shikhar Dhawan is one. KL Rahul is the second and then you have got Virat Kohli too. I would like to add Prithvi Shaw. The brand of cricket that he plays is amazing, it is not necessary that he will score in every match but the day he scores, he will be unstoppable.” Well, there are a lot of decisions to be made as of now. Cricket is not a game of 'ifs' and 'buts'. There are a lot of factors that go into building a team. Keeping that in mind, the team management and the BCCI will have a huge role to play in this. Hopefully, they can sort things out prior to the start of the T20 World Cup.
