Lakes offer immense serenity and calmness. There is something truly magical about lakes, especially when they are surrounded by mountains and natural beauty. India is a country with a lot of interesting tourist places, but the lakes in and around the country are incomparable. So, if you are planning a vacation where you want peace and tranquillity, here is a list of lakes in India that will energize your body and mind.  

Dal Lake, Srinagar, Kashmir

Dal lake is one of the most famous lakes in India and is also known as the jewel of Srinagar. Thanks to its breathtaking beauty, it has inspired numerous film directors and poets. If you are planning a trip there, you can go between July and October. It is ideal for a romantic getaway or family picnics.  

Damdama Lake, Sohna, Haryana

If you are planning a trip to the Northern part of India, Damdama lake is a must-see site. You can plan a nice adventure camp around the lake with friends or family. You can also sit there for hours and do a family get-together or picnic. You must go there when the weather is not too hot so anywhere between October and March is a good time to visit.  

Loktak Lake, Moirang, Manipur

Loktak lake is one of the most amazing lakes in India because of its floating vegetation. It is an ideal romantic escape because of the comfortable surroundings. The perfect time to visit this place is between November and March for its cosy winter.  

Pangong Tso, Ladakh

You can reach Pangong Tso after a mountain drive of five hours from Leh. This brackish water lake is a sight to behold and is one of the most picturesque places in the country. Moreover, the actual Line of Control runs through this lake, and a huge part of this lake is present in mainland China. This lake is also known to change colours. Hence, you can expect to have a cosy and thrilling time visiting this beautiful lake.  

Lake Pichola, Udaipur

Lake Pichola in Udaipur is an artificial lake that stretches far and wide. Measuring three kilometres in width and four in length, this beautiful lake is built under the City Palace. You can have a grand time at this lake and take peaceful boat rides that begin from Rameshwar Ghat. If you are looking for a romantic getaway, you can also enjoy a sunset boat ride with your partner.  

Chandratal Lake, Spiti

This lake in Spiti is much like Pangong Tso in Ladakh. Meaning “Moon Lake'' in English, Chandratal Lake is a stunning shade of blue and looks like a collection of sapphires. The entire lake is surrounded by grassy plains and is nestled amidst gorgeous mountains.
