Bengali Actress Pallavi Dey Dead: Suicide or Murder?

Pallavi Dey Bengali actress, was found dead in her flat where she used to live on rent. The flat is located in Kolkata’s Garfa area. She was found dead Sunday morning, said local police.  Dey was 25 years old and was currently playing the female lead in the TV show ‘Mon Mane Na’. She was found hanging from a ceiling fan, with the investigators claiming that it appeared to be a case of suicide. However, Dey’s family raised the intuition that she may have been murdered, and it was not a suicide. An official said: “Dey was taken to the MR Bangur Hospital where she was declared dead. We are investigating the circumstances that led to her death. The actor’s body has been sent for post-mortem examination.”  The police further said, in an official statement: “The actor was found hanging from a ceiling fan with the help of a bedsheet. The incident took place at about 9:30 am. A case of unnatural death has been registered.”  According to some sources, Pallavi Dey was in a live-in relationship with her boyfriend, Shagnik Chakraborty. The officials also noted that Chakraborty is being questioned at the Garfa police station.  Shagnik, who works in a private company, told the police that he went out in the morning to smoke and as soon as he came back he found the door locked from inside. When there was no response from inside, he then broke the door to find Pallavi’s body hanging. He further added that he informed the Kolkata Police immediately.   According to the sources, Pallavi shifted to a rented flat last month. Her father, Nilu Dey said: “Her partner had a registered marriage with someone else two years ago and we came to know about this six months back. There was another girl who he was close to and it would often create trouble in their relationship. We don’t know who saw her hanging.”  Shagnik’s mother Sandhya Chakraborty said: “We were not happy with the live-in concept but they are adults and the girl side had no issue. We wanted them to stay together after marriage only. She was short-tempered and would talk rudely to us. So we did not speak to her very often.” Pallavi was born and brought up in West Bengal itself. The Bengali TV actress was fond of acting, and her very first show in which she played the lead role was ‘Aami Sirajer Begum’.  She has done a lot of Bengali shows including ‘Reshma Japi’, ‘Kunjo Chhaya’ and ‘Saraswati Prem’. Over the years, she has portrayed various characters in several Television serials. Dey’s colleagues from the TV industry said that people were waiting for her on the set as she had a shooting plan scheduled for Sunday.
