Daily Covid Cases Drop Paves The Way For Reopening Of Schools In States

After a surge in covid-19 cases in India, most states closed schools and colleges. However, as India is witnessing a drop in daily covid-19 cases from the last week, Delhi and 4 other states, including Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Odisha, and Bihar, have reopened schools and colleges from today. In these states, physical classes for 9th to 12th have resumed from today. On 14th February, classes for Nursery to 8th standard will reopen in Delhi. However, Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia also mentioned that online classes would still continue in the national capital. Last week, the central government had said that districts with a positivity rate lower than 5% could reopen schools; however, the final decision would rest with the state governments. Covid-Bulletin: India Registers 83,000+ New Covid-19 Cases; Recovery Rate At 96.19%

According to the latest data released by the union health ministry, India has recorded 83,876 new covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. The active caseload of the country currently stands at 11,08,938. Meanwhile, daily recoveries continue to outnumber active covid-19 cases, with recording 1,99,054 recoveries in the previous 24 hours. The total recoveries currently stand at 4,06,60,202. The daily and weekly positivity rates currently stand at 7.25% and 9.18%, respectively. As per the Indian Council of Medical Research, the country has conducted 74.15 covid-19 tests so far. Rajya Sabha Adjourned For An Hour In Memory Of Iconic Singer Late Lata Mangeshkar

On Monday, in memory of iconic singer late Lata Mangeshkar and paying tribute to the legend of the Indian music industry, Rajya Sabha chairman M Venkaiah Naidu and former member of the house made an obituary reference ahead of today's proceedings adjourned the house for an hour. Mr Naidu said: "In passing away of Lata Mangeshkar, the country has lost a legendary playback singer, a compassionate human being and a towering personality in the world of Indian music and film industry. Her passing away marks the end of an era and has created an irreparable void in the world of music. Besides defining the golden standard of playback singing through thousands of her melodious songs in many languages, she captured every mood, moment and journey of our nation for over seven decades," Lata Mangeshkar was a nominated member of Rajya Sabha from November 1999 to November 2005. Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar passed away yesterday, aged 92, after being diagnosed with covid-19 and pneumonia. Andhra Pradesh Road Accident: PM Modi Announces Ex-Gratia Compensation Of Rs 2 Lakh

On Monday, prime minister Narendra Modi announced an ex-gratia compensation of Rs 2 lakh each to the next kin of the deceased and expressed condolences to the families of those killed in a road accident in Andhra Pradesh's Ananthapuram. The compensation will be released from the Prime Minister National Relief Fund (PMNRF). PMO India tweeted: "Pained by the loss of lives due to a tragic accident in Ananthapuram district, AP. Condolences to the bereaved families. An ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of the deceased," After a collision between a car and a lorry at Budagavi village of Andhra Pradesh's Ananthapuram district, nine people died. Asha Bhosle Dedicates 'Bachpan Ke Din' Song To Didi Lata Mangeshkar; Shares A Childhood Picture

Yesterday, Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar passed away, aged 92, after being diagnosed with covid-19 and pneumonia. As the heaven gained the 'Nightingale of India', Didi's sister and singer Asha Bhosle shared a childhood picture with her Lata Didi and wrote: "Bachpan Ke Din Bhi Kya Din They, Didi and I," On Sunday, Lata Mangeshkar's mortal remains were consigned to flames with full state honours amid chanting of Vedic hymns. Several celebrities, including Shah Rukh Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Aamir Khan, Vidya Balan with her husband and producer Siddharth Roy Kapur, Shraddha Kapoor, cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and singer Anuradha Podwal and musician Shankar Mahadevan attended the last rites of iconic singer Lata Mangeshkar.
