Everything You Need To Know About Delhi Police’s Arrangements for Independence Day 2022


The year, 2022, marks the 75th year of independence or Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav in India. The entire nation is busy planning for the celebration, as this year is going to mark a big difference in the history of India. While different departments in government offices are executing orders to make the celebration special, the security forces are making arrangements to ensure everything go well during this special time of the year.  In this context, Delhi police is all set to provide a safe environment for the big celebration. Being the capital city of the country, Delhi is always a high alert city, because of which the security forces remain extra alert. According to officials, “Like every year, the police department has prepared itself to elaborate flawless and foolproof security arrangements in the national capital”.

Police Preparedness For The Independence Day 2022 Celebration

To keep everything in check, the police department has recently executed a mock exercise in the central district, which aimed at accessing the situation in and around the city. The preparation and alertness of the force was also ascertained by the senior officials ahead of the Independence Day 2022 celebration.   Furthermore, the officials from the Delhi police department said they have implemented red alert scheme across central district for three hours in the evening. According to officials, nearly 10,000 policemen will be deployed around the Mughal-era monument on August 15, i.e. the 75th Independence Day. 

Security Arrangements Made By Delhi Police

On 75th Independence Day, around 10,000 police personnel will be deployed across Red Fort and on the routes to the venue.  This year is more crucial for the security forces. Hence, there will be special focus laid on containing sub-conventional aerial objects. Besides, real time coordination with central and intelligence agencies is also planned. The police department will make arrangements to maintain interstate coordination.  Next, Delhi Police will perform intensive checking to find out the presence of IEDs and other explosives. For this, the police staff is briefed and made alert.  To restrict balloons and kite flying, over 400 kite fliers have been deployed at the Red Fort and surrounding areas.  According to DP officials, the officers are also spreading awareness about the massive celebration for the big day through residential welfare associations and market welfare associations. The officials are urging the citizens to follow the advisory, ensuring that kites, balloons or other flying objects are not operated around the monument on August 15.  Guest houses, hotels, restaurants, and parking lots are being checked continuously. In addition, a verification drive is conducted to check the status of tenants or servants visiting the area.  Nearly, 1,000 high-specification cameras will be used to keep an eye on aerial objects. These cameras will be installed by North, Central and New Delhi district units of the city police.
