Amid Ban On Firecrackers, Delhi's Air Quality Deteriorated To "Very Poor" Category

Although the Delhi government has put a complete ban on the sale and possession of firecrackers in the national capital, the air quality index (AQI) of Delhi slipped to a very poor category on the next morning of Diwali. Recently, on Monday, Delhi managed to keep itself away from the list of the top ten polluted cities in India. However, the composite effect of the use of firecrackers and stubble burning in the neighbouring states degraded Delhi AQI greatly. To prevent the deterioration of air quality in the capital state, the Delhi government instructed concerned officials to spray water sprinkles on the streets to reduce and minimize the presence of particulate matter in the air.
