Solar Eclipse Today: Temples To Remain Closed Throughout The Celestial Event

Solar Eclipse Today: Temples To Remain Closed Throughout The Celestial Event

In a rare occurrence, several parts of the country can witness a partial solar eclipse today. The eclipse of the Sun is a once-in-a-decade moment where the visuals can be seen easily over the Indian peninsula. With the occurrence of the celestial event, all forms of rituals, as per the Hinduism ideology, will come to a halt, as some myths suggest that eclipses are not good omens. Besides this, the temple doors of major holy shrines, including Kedarnath and Badrinath, will remain shut throughout the eclipse tenure and will re-open for evening puja after the eclipse. The contrary view of science states eclipses as beautiful cosmic events that reflect the beauty of the universe to us. Although the solar eclipse seems beautiful, sighting the eclipsed portion is not good to witness via the naked eye because the rays coming out from the solar eclipse can damage the viewers' eyes permanently. Rather than sighting it with the naked eye, it is good to use sunglasses, telescopes, and other instruments. According to reports, the last solar eclipse of 2022 will be visible from 4:29 pm to 5:42 pm on October 25.

Amid Ban On Firecrackers, Delhi's Air Quality Deteriorated To "Very Poor" Category

Although the Delhi government has put a complete ban on the sale and possession of firecrackers in the national capital, the air quality index (AQI) of Delhi slipped to a very poor category on the next morning of Diwali. Recently, on Monday, Delhi managed to keep itself away from the list of the top ten polluted cities in India. However, the composite effect of the use of firecrackers and stubble burning in the neighbouring states degraded Delhi AQI greatly. To prevent the deterioration of air quality in the capital state, the Delhi government instructed concerned officials to spray water sprinkles on the streets to reduce and minimize the presence of particulate matter in the air. Following the onset of winter, Delhi becomes a highly vulnerable state in terms of air pollution, as it faces the repercussions of stubble burning, industrial gases, vehicles' exhaust, and firecrackers. This year, the Delhi government has put a complete ban on the sale and possession of all forms of firecrackers to tackle air pollution in the state.
