NIA Chief: "India has Evidence of Terror Financing Through Social Media Channels"

On Thursday, the Director-General of the National Investigation Agency, Dinkar Gupta, said that India has evidence of social media platforms using measures for terror financing. He added that the misuse of social media channels for terror financing is an issue that needs to be discussed at the 3rd 'No Money for Terror Conference', which the country is hosting from November 18-19. Mr Gupta said that the conference would be attended by representatives from 78 countries. He further informed that Pakistan and Afghanistan would not be attending the event while a confirmation from China was awaited. The session was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi today. "Terrorism is an important topic for India. Almost all countries will get an opportunity to present their points. There will be no limitations," said Mr Dinkar Gupta, who noted that all countries would work towards enhancing global cooperation to deny finances to terrorists. When asked whether the role of Pakistan behind terror financing in India would be discussed in the conference, Mr Gupta said: "discussions not revolved around a particular country, wherever the threat is coming from, will be discussed." https://twitter.com/narendramodi/status/1593459176348360704

During the Bharat Jodo Yatra, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi made a remark against Vinayak Damodar Savarkar during a press conference in Maharashtra's Akola. He alleged that Savarkar betrayed leaders like MK Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru and Sardar Patel by signing a letter of apology to the British before independence. Rahul Gandhi had said: "Veer Savarkar, in a letter written to the British, said sir, I beg to remain your most obedient servant and signed on it. Savarkar helped the British. He betrayed leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, and Sardar Patel by signing the letter out of fear," As soon as the Congress leader made the remarks, a complaint was registered against him in the Thane Nagar Police Station by Balasahebanchi Shiv Sena leader Vandana Dongre stating that his derogatory remarks against VD Savarkar have hurt the sentiments of the local citizens.
