Nupur Sharma, Naveen Jindal Ignored Warnings, Cautionary Advice Says BJP

At the Bhartiya Janata Party's (BJP) senior level, most leaders have said that the suspension of BJP National Spokesperson Nupur Sharma and former head of the Delhi BJP's media unit Naveen Jindal was a well-thought-out decision as they ignored several warnings and cautionary advice. The ruling political party recently suspended the two leaders after their derogatory references to Islam set off outrage. A senior party leader said: "The party is clear on this, the Prime Minister created a narrative on development, and the party's role is to work on it and support it. Anything that hurts this process would be considered as indiscipline," "Being a spokesperson for the party for the national media, Nupur Sharma should know that the BJP sets its agenda and narrative around 'sabka saath, sabka vikas, sabka vishwas, sabka prayas'. The controversy over her remarks and Jindal's tweets has not only hurt our development agenda but also dented the image of the government and Prime Minister at the international level," added the leader. India faced a diplomatic outrage with Gulf countries, including Iran, Kuwait, Qatar and Saudi Arabia, after ex-BJP National Spokesperson Nupur Sharma's controversial remarks on Prophet Mohammad during a Television debate. Sources in the BJP party said that since the party is busy with its activities for the Narendra Modi government's eighth-anniversary celebrations, derogatory tweets made by Naveen Jindal came to the party's attention later. However, the sources also said that Nupur Sharma was given enough warnings and cautionary advice, but she 'went on and on, giving impetus to all kinds of elements to keep the issue alive.' While Nupur Sharma has been suspended from the BJP and its responsibilities pending further inquiry, Naveen Jindal has been expelled from BJP's primary membership. Shortly after there was an outrage on Nupur Sharma's controversial remarks, the BJP released a statement saying: "The BJP strongly denounces insults of any religious personalities of any religion. The Bharatiya Janata Party is also against any ideology which insults or demeans any sect or religion. The BJP does not promote such people or philosophy." https://youtu.be/EKH9xFScfuQ
