It does not reinvent the wheel of original stories, but it makes you have fun and enjoyment by introducing a new character. The DC universe promises the character’s future and Xolo Mariduena leads the universe. 

Angel Manuel Soto has directed the movie, Blue Beetle, while Gareth Dunnet Alcocer has written the story and dialogues of this movie. Other cast members of this movie are Xolo Mariduena, Becky G, Bruna Marquezine, Susan Sarandon, George Lopez, Raul Max Trujillo, Adriana Barraza, and Damián Alcázar. 

The movie, Blue Beetle, will run on your theater screen for 2 hours and 2 minutes. 

Jaime Reyes, a college graduate, is selected by an alien. The alien makes him its host. In his new avatar, he is wearing an armor suit and holds many unpredictable and extraordinary powers. The teenager, Jaime Reyes, uses his powers to change his destiny and becomes a superhero in his family. And as a superhero, he is acknowledged as Blue Beetle. 

This scientific fiction, action, and adventurous movie, Blue Beetle, is what DC and Warner Brothers think we need: a superhero about a young man who has to suddenly face a bunch of responsibilities and seek for justice while fighting for the same.  However, the movie is not what we actually need, but his, Jamie Reyes, family members keep us watching it till the end. 

The eyes of Jaime Reyes (Xolo Mariduena) have stars. He belongs to a family that struggles a lot for survival. To elevant his family from the current situation, he looks for a plush job. His father, Alberto (Damian Alcazar), has heart problems. However, he loves his father a lot and keeps him positive most of the time. His sister, Milagro (Belissa Escobedo), who has just completed her graduation, steps out to support him and starts working with Victoria Kord (Susan Sarandon) at a lower wage. Victoria Kord is the head of Kord Industries. Jamie has a meeting with Jenny Kord (Bruna Marquezine), Victoria’s niece, at Kord Industries. Both Jamie and Jenny became friends after the meeting. Jamie has an accidental contact with Khaji-Da, a biotechnological alien scarab. This bonding makes Jamie leave his idea of making a multi-billion dollar company/business.

Xolo Mariduena does every possible thing to do better in his role of Blue Beetle and Jamie Reyes. His effort is noticeable to make his performance better. Via Mariduena, Jamie is a good addition to the DC Universe with a promising future for the actor and character. Susan Sarandon has done well with her evil tycoon. Carapax (Raul Max Trujillo) has acted as a bad guy. However, there is a lack of emotional connection in his role, especially when he keeps his masks on. 

If you focus on the performance of the superhero, Xolo Mariduena as Jamie, you might not want to watch this scientific fiction and action movie. However, when you think about his family and the root connection of this film with Latin American culture that Angel Manuel Soto has depicted well, you will surely go to your nearest theater or multiplex to watch it. The film’s connection with Latin American culture brings value to its screenplay. Every family member has a distinguished role and they do their best at the right time. George Lopez’s extraordinary comic talents will make you have fun.
