After a quarter of a century, the Indian 2, sequel to Indian (1996), will hit the cinemas on 14th April. It is a vigilante action film that revolves around the protagonist named Senapathy played by Kamal Hassan. Senapathy is an ex-freedom fighter who has turned into a vigilante to curb corruption in the upper echelons of the government. Director Shankar claimed that he had been discussing and working on the plot of Indian 2 since May 2015. Initially, Shankar had planned to collaborate with A. M. Rathnam, the producer of the first movie, but he thought that it was too soon to start planning sequels. Later in 2017, Lyca production took over and started funding the film.   Anirudh Ravichandra will provide the score for Indian 2. He has some big shoes to fill, as the score and music tracks for the previous film were provided by A. R. Rahman. Ravichandran claimed that working on this movie was like a dream come true for him. R. Rathnavelu and T. Muthuraj were also roped in to serve as the cinematographer and art director respectively.   The film also boasts a stellar cast starring Kamal Hassan in the lead role. Kajal Aggarwal will be the lead female role. Rakul Preet Singh has also been signed, but it is unknown what character she plays. You’ll have to see that for yourself on the big screen. Kamal Hassan will be collaborating with Vivekananda for the first time in this movie.   The film had to go through multiple production re-schedules and other hurdles in 2019, due to previous commitments of the director and some of the actors. In 2020 the production came to a standstill because of restrictions imposed due to the pandemic. However, the producers were able to overcome all the hurdles and were able to finalize the film.
