Movie Review: Satyameva Jayate 2
It seems like whenever the director tries to play with the action genre, physics goes out of their mind. Well, director Milap Zaveri throws everything at you in the John Abraham starrer Satyameva Jayate 2, and you are left confused with what just happened! A lot of scenes in the film will make you wonder if 3 John Abrahams could have saved the film!
We get it, if it’s Abraham, Abraham and Abraham, the audience will be in for a lot of action sequences, but John Abraham lifting a bike clean off the ground with the rider still sitting on it or the fact that he actually managed to prevent a helicopter from taking off!
A perfect recipe of disaster can be called a mass entertainer only if you go inside thinking that Satyameva Jayate 2 is a satirical comedy and not an action film that deals with a significant socio-political issue like corruption. The only common link between the first part and the second part is that John Abraham fights off corruption, the only difference being Abraham fighting Abraham in the sequel. In Satyameva Jayate 2, John Abraham is Satya, the State Home Minister, Jay, the police officer and also the warrior-father Balram.
With a shoddy screenplay, redundant dialogues, and an illogical script, Satyameva Jayate 2 fails to deliver what it promised – justice to action movies! Director Milap Zaveri plays with an 80s template and infuriating rhyme schemes. The only good thing about the film is Nora Fatehi’s killer dance moves and John Abraham’s six-pack abs. One can’t put too much blame on John Abraham either as he barely gets anything to play with and is practically sleepwalking through the triple role in Satyameva Jayate 2.
Well, masala movies are like the homegrown identity of Hindi cinema, but Satyameva Jayate 2 will make you wonder is it so? The background music is eardrum-splitting loud, and the emotions are so melodramatic that you are taken back to Ekta Kapoor’s TV serials. Talking about the female lead in Satyameva Jayate 2, Divya Khosla Kumar but wait.. was she really in the film? That’s the biggest dilemma here.
Satyameva Jayate 2 fails to create any impact and leaves you wondering that if 3 John Abrahams couldn’t save the film, what else could have!
